Duke, testing a puppy to see if it has inherited herding instinct is a long way off saying it is a good dog, a long way off. Can tell you a lot about the litter tho.

Back in the day the only dogs titled were by very experienced old men that took their best old dog in to try beat other very experienced old men with their best dog.

It was all for bragging rights and yes the title meant that dog was breed worthy for sure.

The twisted logic breeders here have displayed is they train their gsd for a year to pass the herding instinct test, WTF???

Then they brag about their instinct test title they trained to pass.......wait I think I see your point.

Usually people go to these instinct tests with entirely green dogs. I have yet to see anyone train for an instinct test.

I know. It's nuts. I don't know a single person that ever trained for an instinct test. Granted, I may only know about a dozen people in the Shepherd world and a handful of Corgi people that did it but they all showed up unprepared with dogs that have never seen sheep before.

No, BYB's will never go out of business. You know why? Because people don't want to pay big bucks for dogs.

I see it every darn day. "Oh, we didn't want to pay more than our mortgage for a dog so we went with a breeder that only charged 400."

And THAT is why BYB's will never go out of business, ever!
