I have come across a sable GSD with 2 white parents, and am wondering if there is a way to link him to the white GSD breed database. One parent is already in the database, the other I will have to add.

Both parents are AKC registered.

Sunsilver,
Yes, both the White Shepherd and GSD database do connect to each other now.
Who is the dog you are referring to? I work in both White Shepherd and the GSD database.
The breeders in the White Shepherd database with Registered AKC and UKC that only bred white dogs for many years we left there. The others were moved to the GSD database today the UKC Registered White Shepherd are left there. The FCI countries of White Shepherds many go back to these earlier breeders dogs it can get confusing unless you know of these breeders.

This is the dog - she is the mother of Manchi von Warnerhaus, who is also white. I have just entered him in the regular GSD database, as most von Warnerhaus shepherds are NOT white.

Actuallly, I made a mistake above. Mom is white, dad is black and tan...

I see you've added the parents for Razen Kane. I tried to find the registration number for White Stone's Can't Catch me on the AKC lookup, but the dog isn't listed. What registry did you find him in?

Thank you,
Just moved Regalwise Kountry Charm into the GSD database. If you find any others that
you believe belong in the GSD database let us know.

Well, it's kind of a grey area...you know, not black and white...  Wink Smile Teeth Smile

Still wondering why I can't find a reg. number for Can't Catch Me... UKC, maybe??

AKC database is being a total PITA, and will NOT let me log in, even though I updated my password!  Angry Smile  That is REALLY pissing me off!

An imageTo get a sable in the litter, at least one parent must be sable. Are you sure the sire is black and tan and not tan point sable ( patterned sable which can appear like black saddle like the dog pictured)

The correct name was White Stone's Cant Catch Me not White Stone's Can't Catch Me
so merged the 2 dogs and corrected it. I use AKC but sometimes they are difficult to find
if the name is misspelled.

Yes joanro sometimes they are registered sable when they are actually black and tan.

The dog Regalwise Z'Inevitable Juel is sable though not black and tan

I did try leaving out the apostrophe in Stones. Obviously I had the right idea, but the wrong apostrophe!
Thanks!

Joan, I only have an AKC pedigree to work with, and it lists the dog as black and tan. Good point, though!

Edit: I see GSDAdmin has found a picture of the dog! Yes, looks to be a patterned sable. I remember the colour chart Linda Shaw had in her online version of the GSD Illustrated Standard. It showed how it was really difficult to tell the difference between sable and black and tan if the dog's pigment was really faded. Wish I still had access to that chart, it was very informative!
