It´s sickening -

I know people like to import untitled females, because they are cheap, and a later "litter" will "refund" the money the buyer "invested", but now, even worse, there are advertisements almost every day offering young ( VERY young, in my opinion too young ) pregnant ( not to mention "untitled" ) females.

I know AKC doesn´t ask for titles, but PLEASE, at least research the AGE of the female in question, and if she already had a litter...

Nobody should support these sales practises, it´s morally wrong.
For every dog of this kind you buy there will be offered 10 more.

It shouldn´t be "about money" only...

.....

This is the repetition of an older post, but right now a less than 1 year old CONFIRMED PREGNANT female is advertised !

DON`T BUY THESE DOGS!

Good post Susie. It is time that this practice was brought back into the public domain and something done about it.

I have heard recently that an 18 month old pregnant female was sent to the USA from Germany and, to make it worse it is alleged that the sire is a top male. The SV should investigate these sales abroad and somehow put stop to it.

Agree totally and I would delete any here but that is not my decision to make.

Mr Darcy - It would be useful if the PDB refused adverts of this unwanted practise. The deals that are done show no interest of the breed or any benefit to the GSD.

Come on Olli and the PDB and show some support for the Readers and the SV. I am sure that the refusal of the adverts will not dent the income received by the PDB by too much.

As I said not my call, would love to refuse/delete a lot of the ads placed here but all we can do is get rid of the proven scam/fraudulent ones when we see them

Unless it is a paid ad PDB does not get money from it and few scammers use the paid feature.

We also have to remember that even though breeding dogs so young seems bad to many it is not against any law to do so.

Nor is it against many/most of the dog Clubs or groups rules.

I have been told that even in Germany it is not breaking any law and the SV does not stop it, they just won't give out the coveted PINK papers you get a different color if you did not follow the rules they set out.

Many advertisers do not even post much information about the animal they are selling why would they post the age or true age if they thought it would be deleted, they know we cannot prove anything.

So the answer is not that PDB refuse the Ads.

It is up to the people to the buyers to understand that this is not right and don't buy.

Ever wonder what might happen to many of these young females that don't sell as pups with winter coming on and the owner not having the money or desire to feed and house the dog in the Winter or take care of pups.

"I have been told that even in Germany it is not breaking any law and the SV does not stop it, they just won't give out the coveted PINK papers you get a different color if you did not follow the rules they set out."

You are right, it´s not against law, you are wrong, no pedigrees from SV.

This means, males have to be 2 years old, females have to be 20 months old prior to breeding; in case an unintended breeding happened with dogs too young you have to inform the local breedwarden, the Regional breedwarden, and the breedbook office.

The SV ( breedwarden/president/ breedbook rgistration office ) than decide what will happen - but I never became aware of a case like that...it´s difficult, I am not even sure anybody ever tried to go that route.

I made 2 suggestions acouple of months ago:

1. to install a form potential sellers have to fill out, like

age
kennel club
titles of parents
official health certificates

and so on.

I am pretty well aware that people are able to lie - but most sellers don´t lie, they just don´t tell the whole truth...
As soon as it´s written down, visible for everybody, even the most uninformed buyer may start to think and compare - and in case the seller really lies, it´s easier to proof later on.

2. to install an abuse button

Everybody who becomes aware of abuse/lies/wrong advertisements could press the button and tell you what´s wrong.

Kind regards ( your job is no fun )
