So the answer is you have no idea how many people cops murder but still come to conclusions without actually having any facts.

Speaking of facts, you said, "This fact is at the heart of why the police and uniformed security are feared and distrusted by the citizens of the United States."

That is not a factual statement.

http://thefreethoughtproject.com/police-kill-citizens-70-times-rate-first-world-nations/

Police in the USA kill citizens at nearly 70 times the rate of citizen killing by police in other first world countries.  There are no accurate numbers for police killings because police in the USA do not report those killings and then lie as to the cause when they do unless video of the incident shows otherwise.  If any reasonable person looks at videos of police shootings and killings a good 50% of them did not have to end in a shooting or killing.  In a recent shooting in California a man was shot for not obeying orders and then after shot twice in the chest and lying on the ground feeling of the holes in his chest the cops shot him twice more while down and feeling of his chest with both hands visible ( no weapon at all ) because he did not put his hands above his head while lying on his back.  Those cops were both idiots and thugs.  No weapon and never a threat to the two officers but killed for not obeying ... what a great nation that allows this slaughter.

Let’s look at our immediate neighbors to the north, Canada. The total number of citizens killed by law enforcement officers in the year 2014, was 14; that is 78 times less people than the US.

If we look at the United Kingdom, 1 person was killed by police in 2014 and 0 in 2013. English police reportedly fired guns a total of three times in all of 2013, with zero reported fatalities.

From 2010 through 2014, there were four fatal police shootings in England, which has a population of about 52 million. By contrast, Albuquerque, N.M., with a population 1 percent the size of England’s, had 26 fatal police shootings in that same time period.

From 2013-2014, German police killed absolutely no one.

In the entire history of Iceland police, they have only killed 1 person ever. After exhausting all non-lethal methods to detain an armed man barricaded in his house who actually shot 2 police officers, police were forced to take the 59-year-old man’s life. The country of Iceland grieved for weeks after having to resort to violence.

No weapon and shot three times while down .. killed for not obeying idiots.  Instead of backing off and letting the mentally unstable man a minute to calm down they killed him because they had to get down to StarBucks and go by the jelly do-nut shop.  A 19 year old man is dead and he did not have to be killed or even shot if the cops were not idiot thugs.  The original post was about a cop who shot a dog for barking at him on the other side of a fence and then lied about the shooting, why he was there and why he broke several laws in killing a 5 year old boys dog on his birthday .. great guys the cops.

What are the rates for civilians killing civilians, the US vs other countries? What are the rates of police getting killed vs other countries?

How many cops were murdered the past two weeks here?

You obviously are not interested in the truth so look up the statistics yourself .. The number of cops convicted of killing a citizen in 2015 .. zero and also in 2014 .. the last cop who went to jail for manslaughter was three years ago when a cop pumped 7 rounds into an unarmed 54 year old woman in a church parking lot and then as usual lied about what actually happened.  He got three years but most cops even if convicted of manslaughter get light or no real punishment and some even stay employed in police work.  More cops are killed each year by driving like idiots than by gunfire .. especially so if you omit the cops killed by friendly fire.

What is your solution Bubba...NO cops.. i think not.
I am not always a fan of police actions, but I certainly feel without we would be in big trouble.
Better training, really better selection , is needed. I happen to know some wonderful policemen. Men that earned the right to be looked up at.
i have also known some that should never have been allowed to join the force.
what I call, little man syndrome...small, pathetic beings that hide behide their badges. Just like many that want these bad ass dogs.
But whats the alternative? I wouldn t leave my house if there were no good polucemen out there!

The solution is admitting there is a huge problem with the USA as regards the criminal justice system ( and several other parts of our social system ). What needs to change ?? Half as many jails, half as many inmates, half as many cops, and half as many people arrested and convicted of crimes they did not commit or that have no victims. The war on drugs started by Nixon was really a class war started to punish the Vietnam War protesters and civil rights protesters. The police are now a paramilitary franchise operation in which each hamlet to huge mega-city writes it's own rules and runs it's own private paramilitary territory protected franchise. The police operate as private franchised gangs with their own internal rules and seldom are punished for murder, corruption, or breaching constitutional laws. Clearly putting people in jail for minor drug offenses such as marijuana has enriched the private prison corporations and the police. The war on drugs has had a terrible cost while producing no visible benefit. Clearly there are many first world nations and some third world nations with much less violent police forces, smaller and more humane justice systems, and fewer inmates and prisons per capita than the USA. Europe had coffee shops and drug dealers before the invading immigrant Europeans murdered the native Americans and stole their lands yet after all this time the Europeans police more humanely, have fewer drug problems, and fewer prison inmates than the USA. This fact points to a systemic failure of the citizens and justice system of the USA.

BBBB must be right. I remember watching a TV show on one particular prison. they asked each inmate if they were guilty. All of them said they were innocent. i guess we could start by closing that insitution. GOD BLESS OUR POLICE.

by Noitsyou on 25 July 2016 - 23:07

The drug war under Nixon had an emphasis on treatment, not law enforcement, so the conspiracy theory of going after war protesters is a weak one. That changed under Reagan.

And statistics may be facts but how they are interpreted is another matter.
