I have heard many,many show people refer to these qualifications as titles and God knows they aren't " dog sport addicts"....lol

Stay on your little island and enjoy calling titles whatever you'd like.

Language evolves with culture and what's easiest for people to use. Thankfully there are more people doing dog sport in my city in the United States than on the whole island of NZ. I'll just keep calling the titles/qualifications what most people understand them to be instead of getting on some high horse about old English definitions of words and how they have traditionally been used.

Get back into the show ring and don't worry about what people call a sport titles. Maybe show people would call the things behind the name titles as well if they'd actually try to get them once in a while.

Actually, that was the first post by Les that I have read in its entirety. Wink Smile  Teeth Smile

BTW, I call those accomplishments "titles" too. Wink Smile

Languages do change due to daily use, that´s the reason why dictionaries have to be updated every couple of years...

but a lot of elder people do have problems with it ...

The sanctioning organizations refer to them as titles.

Les: These sports people WRONGLY refer to Qualifications as Titles!!

Gustav: But show people also (wrongly) refer to Qualifications as Titles. Ha Ha Ha 😁, gotcha!!

Bavarian Wagon: You don't know nothing, because I AM THE GREAT AMERICAN !!

Susie: Thank you! Thank you!! These old fools... the dictionary ought to be changed... I don't like AKC, but... I LOVE AKC !!

Koots: My dog has a GREAT attention span.

Markobytes: I'll go with the authorities.

Question: Why do some TITLES go BEHIND/AFTER the NAME?

Koots

Swarn - now you're really reaching/extrapolating, on all posts in this thread, lol.

I love AKC? Why? I do have absolutely no connection to AKC...
I just like the list I posted - way easier than to post every link for every club...
About your question: All German titles go behind/after the name, simply because they don´t belong to the name.
AKC seems to think different in case of "champions", but I am not sure about that.

In Germany we call "title" "Ausbildungskennzeichen".
Ausbildung = training, apprenticeship
Kennzeichen = indication, marking

English speaking countries translated to "titles", everybody understands the term, so I am fine with it.
