Shawnicus...my last post to you...(edited Name calling Western Rider)..... the police dogs most certainly DO go into schools and DO patrol the fairs, etc...shit, even the police dogs you see at airports and such ARE NOT SNAPPING, HACLES UP, DROOLING AT EVERY ONE THAT WALKS PAST THEM. the ones that are truly working, ARE WELL TRAINED DOGS.... the only ones that have the masculine type you describe, are those guys I stated before that like the gangst dog...men with little man syndrome..no balls of their own...probly been bullied at school. I'm certain you know the type.

"War dogs" ( 1. and 2. world war ) have been almost only been message, sentry, or scout dogs....- no man stoppers, sorry.

"Police dogs" traditionally in my country have been unstable, aggressive dogs, "single purpose" only, sold to police, because useless for civil life. Today most police dogs have to be dual purpose dogs out of economical reasons, they are not allowed to show any uncontrolled aggressions.

"Guard dogs" have to behave in society, otherwise they are useless.

The "legacy" of the German Shepherd Dog? To be able to do almost any job...
You should change the breed.

I guess we all agree to disagree , that's why there's forums like this

by Noitsyou on 21 July 2016 - 20:07

Shawnicus said, "I really don't care what that idiot Von Stephanie's thought he created ! GSD has been historically used as a war, police or guard dog, that's its legacy ,not a take it to a kindergarten and to be used as public relations etc"

Wrong. Historically it was a farm dog, hence the name. And those dogs who were first used as war, police and guard dogs were those farm and...family dogs.

Shawnicus is either a troll or mentally challenged or...13 years old. Whatever he is, he couldn't handle the type of dog he claims to want. The fact he mentions the news shows he is in a fantasy world otherwise he would have mentioned his reality that requires a dog like that.

Quote Shawnicus:

"...to me a dog is a tool first and foremost..."

I really hope that you're just testosto-posturing for effect.

If this is truly how you view a dog, then you have ZERO business having one.

Viewing a dog as being just a 'tool' is what leads to the number of LE dogs dying each year, after their handlers 'forgot' about them and left them to cook inside a sealed-up vehicle in hot weather.

As for what I do or do not 'know', you couldn't be more wrong in your assumptions, but I have nothing to prove here--I'm not the person with a dog that I have to insulate from the world around them so it doesn't bite inappropriately, nor the one with the dog I raised from puppyhood that can't get a routine veterinary exam and medical care without having sedation on-board in advance.

I wish your pup the best of luck for a long and healthy life.

Not necessarily - a lot of people do buy German Shepherd Dogs because they believe in RinTinTin, and a lot of people do buy Collies because they believe in Lassie...
