An image Opinions on this Sable puppy ? I'm new to this & I'm assuming she's a dark sable. Thanks

Yup, dark sable. If you have a picture of her at birth, she will likely be that color as an adult.

Melba really? In my limited experience I see the opposite, light colored pups that darken with age. My dog was a fawn pup with a black stripe down the spine who went dark sable???

vk, that is often the case; I don't know for sure, but
I think it may be a difference between pups from a
Sable to B&R mating, as distinct from Sable to Sable.

Vk, yes. In my experience, sables are approximately the same color as when born, not days or weeks after. I can give dozens of examples.

Are we talking wet or dry here ? Literally "Just born",
or a couple of hours/days old ?

PS to the OP, yes she is a very pretty pup ! In 'modern
parlance' I'd say she is a good, fairly dark colour; but I
have seen darker, ie what many would call 'Black Sables'.

Yes Sable that is. Cutie too. My friend has a dark sable out of two dark sable parents and at 8 weeks he looked like a Malinois puppy. Fawn with a black mask. People asked if was a mal dozens of times. But he soon darkened up and is now a nice dark sable like both his parents.
