Does anyone have any links or suggestions on where I could learn more about correct and incorrect GSD conformation and also proper ways on how to stack a GSD?

You may find something of interest here - https://gsdca.org/german-shepherd-dogs/education.

You can then click on the topics in the red box to the left of that page. Most of the dogs pictured are American showlines; you can get a good idea of what is correct structure and movement for the breed.  The dog in the movement video is a German showline dog. Many consider him to be the best moving GSD of all time.

If the SV produces similar educational videos, I have never seen them.

I would keep an eye on Linda Shaw's website too. She's supposed to be publishing a book on the illustrated standard soon. I've messaged her before about my dog, she's very knowledgeable and helpful.

Please note, what is correct and incorrect is very subjective, and depends on who you talk to. The standard is absolute, but what is produced is not.

How you stack depends on the camp you end up in, as well as the individual dog

Absolutely agree with Xeph ^^^

In the end you may find it comes down to personal preference ! Keep an eye
on this PDB website and the pictures and ads of GSDs on it; that will help you
to "get your eye in".

There are also a number of excellent books available, not only Linda Shaw's,
if you like reading the opinions of other people very experienced with the
Breed; I don't mean the sort of little booklets about "Your German Shepherd"
sold in pet stores, but serious works by people like Malcolm Willis for e.g.

The German Shepherd Dog - The German Way Set
The success of the live seminars elicited the interest of Canine Training Systems to create a video series on structure, movement, and the show scene. As author of the series I had an opportunity of putting the "inside view" of judging into an effective teaching tool. Later, SV Judge Henning Setzer would say of these videos "They are the best ever made on the breed."

Links to Videos:
•The German Shepherd Dog the German Way Video 1- Gait and Locomotion
•The German Shepherd Dog the German Way Video 2- Structure
•The German Shepherd Dog the German Way Video 3- Basic Training, Conditioning and Handling
•The German Shepherd Dog the German Way Video 4- Advanced Training, Conditioning and Handling
•The German Shepherd Dog the German Way Set
You can buy these on line through Canine Training ..Ricardo Carbajal is the Author.

It is true about there being one standard for all GSDs. The issue comes down to INTERPRETATION. One would think that a carefully articulated breed standard would not produce so much variation.
I also highly recommend Louis Donald as a resource. His writing can be very dry for someone with limited background in anatomy of any kind.
A nice book to start with might be one I found at a second hand store: The German Shepherd Today by Gibson, Strickland, and Moses (1997). It has really nice anatomical illustrations to acquaint a person fairly new to the nuances of GSD conformation.

After you have gone trough the Standard, memorising it so thar you don't  have to carry it around, keep referring to it, and Louis Donald's, FB. I would start looking at  a) Heads b)The Topline c) Forequarters d)Middle e) Hindquarters . When you understand why the requirement in the standard, is demanded , for the performance. Please take a look at the VA dogs and bitches, and the top 15 dogs in each class at the Sieger Show in Germany. Comparing them, you will see the differences. From my observations, reading, the critiques will help, but be aware that , slight unimportant shortcomings are not mentioned as compared to positive virtues.   Remember the most important is' TYPE' and ' The German Shepherd Dog must cover maximum ground with minimum effort ". It takes awile don't worry You will get there.
