Im wondering if theres very many current working studs with low zw numbers that are also consistantly producing most offspring that can pass hip and elbow certification in progeny on a regular basis. Any males that stand out ?

There are a lot of dogs that produce good hips and elbows.
I think WL breeders have made good efforts in recent years.
Off course not everything is perfect.

Some examples after a quick search.

Bruno Flusenpark ZW 66
Zorro Mordshau ZW 69
Crem du Triangle Magique ZW 69
Gary Weinbergblick ZW 71
Yack Kammberg ZW 71
Bandit Thostgrund ZW 72
Zar von der Schiffslache ZW 73
Pike del lupo Nero ZW 73
Fanto Lobdeburg ZW 74
Black Jack Teufelskehe ZW 74

Since the breed average is about 20% dysplastic. Is it safe to say that some.combinations will result in as low as 10% to no dysplastic pups and some as high as 30% dysplastic or more?
People always end their sentences when it come to HD with something like nothing is perfect or no one can predict.
. After getting a puppy from parents with average ZW scores that were lower than 80 and she's still severly dysplastic( at least three experienced breeders said its the worst they had seen). I'm a bit perplexed as to how much these values mean.
A £2,000 euro gamble on a puppy is a big one and im beginning to wonder if breeders should do more than replace a puppy or the refund the cost of the puppy for customers who live in countries other than theirs. Shipping isn't cheap and neither are HD treatments.

You have made some good points Tobi, one would hope the zw numbers in the sixtys would tend to produce better hips than a dog with a zw rating of 100 or more, from what I heard from others its not always the case, its still a gamble in Europe or America, but perhaps less of a gamble if your buying from an American breeder that you know and trust well, your right any good breeder no matter where they are should replace or cash refund for a pup that ends ups having bad hips it might be a bit much though to ask a breeder to refund shipping cost I,ve never heard of it done before here or there. Sorry to hear of your dog ending up having very bad hips.

Thanks Bundishep, I understand it's not something you can blame on the breeder, especially with planned breedings. Nevertheless, it happens rarely with proper breedings and is less of a financial strain on the breeder (imo) than the regular puppy buyer. I live in Africa so i'm bound to import. A few good breeders in SA but i'd rather take a gamble on US or European breeders.
Again, not trying to be condescending or anything. I've never bred a litter so maybe there are some costs that would make it difficult to cover shipping on replacement pups.........

I fail to understand why people continue to spend such big money on the highest risk options.

Sorry but there is no free cake, you want to minimise risk DONT BUY A PUPPY.
