I agree, this group of VA is the worst so far, SV lost vision

This is a picture from Judge Piero Alquati FB account, correct movement is a result of correct structure, SV better start faulting large size, deep rears and steep croups, the sooner the better

I agree with the work show mix.. I once bred my remo grandson to a army dog center female... She was trained for explosive detection... The puppy I got from the breeder was amazing ... Really differed from the show line pupps I usually have in terms of drive level, ethletism, bone, etc... Even pigment Wink Smile

Why do you think more breeders don't use WL x SL crosses? Breeding results are not consistent?

Thumbs Up @ Ibrahim. And BTW some of us happen to think you are one of the best Teeth Smile.

WL-Sl crosses not consistent ?
Yes, but is that important ?
Most people who buy a SL dog only want a good familiy dog that is also a bit protective of their house and familiy.
They don't care if the structure is perfect or not.

Also breeders need to think in long termine, not think that every litter must have a possible VA.
So the breeder must select wich puppy is good enough to keep for himself and wil have a role in future breeding.

Heart of Gold is right in saying that the pet people do not care if the structure is perfect or not. However that is not the point. The point is that breeders are not always trying to breed for correct structure and consistency in their breeding results, the latter being a most important point to produce good dogs that will be fit for purpose. For the show people the aim has become more fashion and financially motivated, whereas, the working side has been for animals that can work and particularly in the aggression disciplines to the detriment of anatomical correctness.

The founder of the breed once said that "the German Shepherd Dog is a working dog and one that can be shown". The aim throughout the history of the breed is to produce anatomically correct working animals with the show side just a side show. Max v Stephantiz also warned about the money men causing damage to the breed.

IMO the breed would benefit form integrating the bloodlines of show and working dogs but, as we know, people will not take one step backwards in order to take three steps forward for the benefit of the breed.

So then what would be the purpose of a WL x  SL mating?
