OP remember my ''fish story'' As my brother and I fished at the pond a couple of kids gave us advice on bait and where the trout might be hiding in the pond. A old man from the neighborhood gave to us a fishing pole and more advice on catching a fish. We had more fun than we expected! We never made a living from fishing but we did fish often as youth. We sometimes caught a fish and then let it go as we did not need the food, just the fun, relaxation, and comradmenship of fellow fishermen. Get involved and evolve.

Come on guys, how many times have we heard the same old story from a pet owner.....my dog is so beautiful she will make beautiful puppies.....I have friends who wants one of her puppies.....we want one of her puppies.....the kids should see puppies being born....yadda, yadda, yadda. I'm guessing some of us have even said that ourselves or know of someone who has and who later went on to breed good dogs because he or she met up with a mentor.

Now before you get all hostile, of course most aren't going to listen to anything anyone has to say about breeding dogs and they will forge ahead and do it anyway.  I'm not suggesting that the OP will have an epithany and take the high road; odds are he will go ahead and breed his bitch to a big headed male neither of which will have any health checks, xrays, training, titles, etc..  Still, it might be nice to try to point him to a local club or mentor if he/she is interested rather than assuming the worst?

Good advice Blitzen:
When I get to a computer I will post pics of s recent pup we purchased from " showline and work line parents , well known here on pdb , not a good mating after all
First: , we trusted the breeder, did not question ears. Hips on dam why not OFA and knew that bitch came from top 75,000.00 top stud here in USA
Second:  male out of showline n ears were a problem on other pups that were taped or
Glued one didn't work.  Never knew this until this pups ears went down and were told YOU waited too long at 4 months to glue them or tape them.,  HUH? never had to do that in any of the ones I knew about.
Third: our pup had ED left side with limp n bulge , HD , severe cow hocked, grossly long legs and huge structure at 8 mos old and curled tail and hanging Ears.
HE IS THE THIRD PUP IN HIS LITTER WITH HD. ONE PUP MALE. SABLE BACK TO BREEDER FROM A MEMBER OF PDB ALSO,
OTHER MALE STILL WITH VETERAN NOT HAPPY AS HE WAS TRAINING HIM
SO DO YOU SEE WHY WE SAY NANS' SAYING AND. HNTJUMPER  ALSO
THAT;" BREEDING PUPS IS LIKE A CRAPSHOOT?"
Even top named titled gsd can not fit together sometimes. It is your duty to check former litters and see what faults are there and have health checks with proof before you even consider the breed partner for your dog. Breeder must not renew a litter breed of problems that  keep appearing
Spending$ 800.00 to $1000.00 if I got full reg which I cod not afford is not a happy outcome
Please find a well known lady or man in the gsd breeding and training and check their references.
We did years ago but when u get laxidazy n do not follow that rule. See what HAPPENED ?

Vets call him a Train Wreck...IS this a quality German Shep?

Weak pasterns also but all of this is all OUR FAULT> not the breeder as was told to vet and us.Vets have the xrays since 4 months old, 7 months and 8 months old.   Who would have thunk it?

These trainers and breeders here are trying to help you see you must seek info and do some research and go find a  dog club, or  to help you start . YOUR dog does not have to have a title but the people will show you that maybe you need a different male or female and then put a title for your fun and learning what your dog can do and health tests on your dog and seek a correct  breeder partner.      This is not done in 1, 2 or 3 years   usually the age of 2 you know what road to take.

Mr Keith:
Write a book about the Stupid myths of German Shepherd tales( use word TAIL) as an acronym sp?

I was in BIG LOTS buying USA made treats and a girl in wheel chair ask me why I was so choosy..
LONG story nor for us
I told her a big portion of gsd breeders and owners feed RAW.
OH NO she replied
That is highly contaminated practice. THE dog that goes out in public around us people who have broken immune systems can get Ecoli and Salmanilla as the dog sheds the disease in his hair of dandruff?
I had to leave the store with "HAVE a good day maam"
If that is true, and I have not researched that one, then we may be missing the reason for such sick dogs and people ,  running our streets that end up in the RESCUE Organizations or in a Dr's office.   NONSENSE  I was using an incident to show the stupidity of some remarks people make about wrong truths of the GSD.

Nan , if you are talking to me  I was making a joke.

I could not tell if you meant me buy anything, no I was reply to Keith when he said that remark that you and Keith brought forward

I never heard that mythi either...about PD dogs the cause of so many rescues

Man after reading this I am so glad I live in America where I can do what I feel is right for me and mine and not have to worry about a bunch of breeder _______. (you fill in the blank.) By the way I firmly believe in - you worry about what YOU do and don't worry about what I do.

OP do what you feel is right for you and don't ask for advice from those who feel they know what is best for someone else.

Let freedom ring, lol.

Please if you have any smart ass responses to my post, contact my people so they can promptly ignore the F out of you.
