Ranger got out of the yard one day, and held my postie at bay, and would not let her up the steps to deliver the mail. No biting, just standing his ground and barking.
Star will sometimes grab the arm or hand of people who come into my house, even people she knows really well. (She also barks at them.) She has never broken the skin, though, and I am not sure how she would respond to a real threat. Of course, if the person at the door is someone she doesn't know, I supervise introductions carefully, and make sure she keeps her distance until I allow her to come and say 'hello'.
Even my first GSD, who didn't seem to have an aggressive bone in her body went right through the screen on the patio door when she heard something out on the deck one night! (It was likely a 4-legged masked bandit, though...)

Sometimes people sure are stupid. Yes, why would anyone in their right mind walk onto a property when they knew a GSD was there? I like that sign - break in, make his day. Gotta get me one of those.
Yes, Marj, I agree that CJ done good. Neither of my GSD's were trained in protection either. The second one I mentioned is an AKC CH who ended up with me because her 7th owner didn't want her anymore because she tried to protect her when a stranger ran up on her on a jogging trail before dawn. I thought it was a good reason to take her and I did. CJ was a good boy.

Blitzen, my sign is like a poster paper. I can copy it and send it to you, if you want. Its 8 x 10. Actually, I wonder if I could put it up here and you could print it out... it actually looks like CJ but CJ has better teeth!!! LOL!

Thanks, Marj! Yes I could print it.
I agree, why would anyone want to get rid of a GSD because it tried to keep him or her safe? One of her other owners decided she didn't want her because she had too many puppies in one litter (10) and another because she got too big. Go figure.........I don't buy GSD's anymore, I just take the ones no one else wants . That saves me a lot of money.

I added the pic of the poster to my last post. See if it prints out, if not, I will send.. Wouldnt take the real size, as the file was too big, so I had to make oit smaller...

My male, is still puppy, and while he does bark (big bark), not sure what he would do yet.
Once he matures, I have no doubt he will bite if I am threatened.

The concept of Type 1 was not developed to classify that OP's puppy. The concept seem to have been used on other threads before, and examples of type 1 dogs were gicen.. Navar, Chuligan, Norbo, Congo, and some other Jirkova dvora dogs.
I see that many folks are comfortable with speaking with dogs showing lots of prey drive from young..but find it difficult to accept that some lines could have been slectively bred for defense drive and such can show up in a pup from pretty young
