No I Read about it on another working dog forum.

Oh, so that means its true? I'm sorry but that is a load of BS.

Mithuna, didn't you have thread before about your female biting someone with a guitar case? So yes in fact your dog has bit someone? A dog that bites as soon as defense drive is "activated". So basically, a dog that is stressed bites immediately. No, I would have to argue that is not a stable dog, that is a nerve bag.

The really tough dogs seldom bite in defense. My 6 year old male comes out of the pen, crate or truck ready to fight but he is not an idiot dog and he won't bite a child or hurt a puppy. The really tough dogs have so much confidence that getting them into defensive drive is difficult. My six year old has always gotten furious and angry when in a fight but he keeps his head and when the fight is over he is back to normal very quickly. The dog that bites out of fear or uncertainty is much more dangerous than the confident dog.

Thank you bubbabooboo for being what seems like the only other person on here who believes truly confident dogs don't have to be in defense to bite.

2 of my GSD's were confronted by strangers coming onto their property unannounced. The first barked and then put both of his front feet on the flower delivery guy's shoulders looking him in the eye until he turned and retreated up the driveway. My current GSD has been challenged 2 or 3 times by strangers walking into our screened lenai while she was there. All 3 times the strangers were dealt with in the same manner, barking while holding the intruders at bay until she was told to stop. Neither of them tried to bite any of those people but the intruders never challenged the dogs either.

BTW the first GSD I mentioned would take a few visitors by the wrist and walk them off our deck and to their vehicles. He didn't do that to everyone.

When people are debating the veracity of a quote, it would help to have the quote correct, have the meaning behind it correct, and only then would any debate about it possibly make sense.

I really don't understand how people can argue about someone else's words when the speaker isn't even here to explain, clarify, refute, or agree.

I was on the other side of the yard watering my plants when the person entered. I did not hear him, but CJ was, evidently, on it!  CJ went BALLISTIC/BATSHIT,enraged, barking and carrying on like he was killing the person. CJ had him pinned against the fence. All I heard were blood curdling screams coming from the person and I was sure CJ had ripped him to shreds from the screams I heard.. I ran over, but kept some distance, asking him who he was, since I wasnt about to call CJ off, while trying to access the situation. The man was lying on the ground, still screaming "Oh, no, oh no, over and over again. He had pulled over 2 planters to try to protect himself, and once he saw me, he tried to get up but CJ kept him pinned there, zooming in even closer (although I didnt think it was possible for CJ to get any closer than he was) once he tried to get up.  Turns out it was a person my realtors had hired to place a for sale sign along the waterside of the house!!! OMG! What kind of MORON enters a yard when they KNOW a GSD is on premisis, without calling or yelling hello at the fence, before entering the yard??? Thats TRESPASSING!!!!  I had a picture/sign on my door of GSD saying "Break in.... MAKE HIS DAY!!" I also have a lifeize concrete staue of a GSD right by my door!!! WTF could he have been thinking??? Once I determined who he was  (I could tell he was telling the truth after he told me he threw the sign in the pool, and there it was) I called CJ off and put him in the house. I was dreading going back outside, expecting to see massive bite wounds on the man. The man, believe it or not, was NOT bitten! He had no marks on him, what so ever, aside from the scratches he got when he pulled my planters over, with the trees in them! CJ had held his ground, cornered the man, but did not atttack or bite. He just scared the crap out of the guy, and, in fact, he scared the crap out of me with the batshit way he had carried on.  I was so relieved he didnt bite, because even if the man had entered my property, unauthorized, I know the shit would have hit the fan... I always wondered what CJ would do, but he has always been very protective of me. The way he was snapping, while barking, ears pinned back, fangs flashing I was sure he had done some major damage. I know if the man had tried to move towards me, that would have been a whole nother smoke... OMG.... scary, scary day....

He did good, right? He is not a working dog and has had no formal training. He is an AM Bred GSD.
