bubba stop repeating yourself. We heard you the first time. If you can't talk about his past dogs or what he has produced take a hike. This thread isn't about you. Cmill my friends issue was his lacked a lot of courage and would go into avoidence really easy. Then he met another from another breeding unrelated and it had the same temperament. coincidence?  Edd had the most busy working dog forum at one time how could no one have noticed what was going on?

for what its worth.........i once did a video of a friends wedding.  that video certainly did not make me a professional photographer nor did it make me a minister.  it did not
make me an authority of any kind.  just sayin'........just because you make videos, does not guarantee you are any kind of authority.  Thinking

it's been almost a decade since he's bed a dog and still people have to try and stir up pissing matches.  I've had a leerburg dog, titled her to SchH II she was and still is my favorite dog, though she's been gone a few years.  no health issues other than allergies to something in dog and cat food.  Was great with family and was very social with others.  On the same hand, I've never met a dog so keenly aware of threat and non-threat.  She'd have you sized up before you knew there was a dog there.  I never worried about anything with her around.  DA was an issue though, a giant pain in the ass, but she was good with dogs in her "family" after some work and could keep her mostly non reactive outside the home after a lot of work.  We still went on 10 mile bike rides at almost 11 years of age with no issues.  Give me  a dog like her every time for the rest of my life and I'll be very happy man.

her littermate was on the WUSV team quite a few years ago as well.

as for his videos, don't like them, don't watch them.  He's done more for dog sports than most on here and their constant bitching about everything. If it wasn't for my exposure to his stuff I most likely never would have been involved in dogs.  I know many others just like me.  Many of his past videos were made with people that were some kind of "authority" on the subject and his newer series of vids I haven't seen, but I've trained with a couple of those guys at various times and they do know what they're talking about.

Cmills made the coyote comment about a dog previously personally owned bred by Leerburg .. I have never heard an owner describe their own dog in those terms before .. This entire thread started as a bash on Ed Frawley and I am not one of the bashers if you bother to read what I wrote.  I own and have streaming video of many of Leerburg's dvd's and I like some and dislike or am apathetic about others.  The Michael Ellis videos are the best and I use them with my dogs.  Steven Spielberg made "Jaws" and "The Color Purple" and he is not a black shark.  Most of the time Ed stands behind the camera these days so he does not need to be "the expert".

"I owned one several years ago, Ista vom Leerburg. and I must say I was not impressed with her, she had little to no drive, and was a very ugly pale sable, looked like a coyote to me. Had very light pale pigment. Seemed not too bright either. But this was of course only one dog. Everyone produces some not so great dogs at times." - Cmills

Is this the female that you use have, Cmills http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=398763-ista-vom-leerburg ? If so her appearance to me looks not that bad. Her pigment could be darker. I think shes an attractive female :) The question that I have for you is did you get her directly from Leerburg kennels or did you bought her from some place else where? Did you let Ed Frawley know that you specifically wanted a working dog for either Schutzhund or service work? Or did you tell him that you wanted a pet?

I have a dark sable female that has some Leerburg dogs in her lines. Her grand dam doubles up on the dog Valco Vom Leerburg. She's a very pretty girl, no health issues at all, but does have some DA. We have to be very careful with the females that we allow around her. She's a very dominant female, but that could also be due to a lack of socialization with other dogs with her previous owners. She's also very social but is also quick to size up a person and can very quickly determine if you're an actual threat or not. She's also very courageous and serious when there is an actual threat. I never worry about anything or anyone when she's around, that's for sure. Overall I'm pretty happy with her. She hasn't been competed with or anything, but she's a great girl and one of my favorites.

I really like watching Ed's videos that he has done with Michael Ellis. Michael is a genius IMO and I love his training methods. I don't think of Ed necessarily as the god of sporting GSD's necessarily, but I do feel that he must know what he's doing after breeding that many litters of puppies.

@bubbabooboo- I am far from a first hand dog owner, I've owned/shown/bred for almost 30 years, so have plenty of dog knowledge. I simply answered the OPs question, and to me Ista was a leggy pale sable with no drive, I have every right to say what I want about my OWN DOG.
@destiny4y- yes she was nervy and flighty, I would not say she had a sound stable temperment,  but JMHO
@Brittany- no I bought her from someone else at 5 months old

I have a Leerburg dog, and she's a great girl.   I wish Leerburg was still breeding GSD's it's difficult to find a dog like I got from Ed, she has proven to be one of my best dogs ever.   She is the dog that immediately decides if "we" should trust a person.   Her immediate judgement of people we've met has always been on target. She is the dog I'd take with me if I ever had to go in an environment that I thought may be unsafe for me.   And she is the dog that I believe would not let an intruder into my home.  Titled her to a SchH1.  Did have some handler aggression or frustrations at times during training, but overall a very nice girl, beautiful to look at, and good family dog.   No health problems.

I owned a male dog from Leerburgs that I did AKC obedience with.  He had great drives and was so easy to train.  My trainer back than also had a dog from him that was sharp and would go off on everyone.  I've been out to Ed's a few times when he was breeding and he tells you like he thinks it is and nothing else.  I'm not a fan of his older videos but do like the Michael Ellis videos.
