When research is published in a peer reviewed scientific journal and the results verified by other researchers using the same or similar methods it is scientific .. until then it is speculation and propaganda

LOL ..given all PUREBRED GSDs alive today have sprung from the same foundation stock (as already pointed out by bubbabooboo) there would have had to have been some other breeds introduced into the gene pool assuming this research is valid. Malis? Dutch Shepherds?

I don't buy into that at all. Didn't know long coats were a different breed either, especiallly since they come out of THE GERMAN SHEPHERD BREED.

I agree with you guys, but when you think about the fact that showlines have been bred to showlines for how long now, and workinglines have been bred to workinglines, you can see how they COULD start to differ a bit. I mean, that is obvious in their looks alone. However you will also see some workinglines with showline-type structure, and vice versa. All dogs are descended from wolves, after all, but a poodle is not the same as a GSD. I think it would take more than 30-40 years or however long its been since the two lines split, for them to truly become genetically different, but hey, thats just my opinion. A GSD is a GSD is a GSD... love 'em all! :)

Those differences are the results of selective breeding, Dawulf. The DNA would remain unchanged.
