I have had experience with similiar symptoms, pups tend to swallow stuff they shouldn't....if otherwise he's acting normal, wants to play, etc...vet check, no food, only water for a day or two, boiled chicken and little bit of rice (bland food) for a few days, then ease back into regular food...if vet check comes back neg, you may want to consider panacur treatment as a precaution.  See what the vet says but I wouldn't drive yourself crazy if this is first time

You say that your boy goes #1 and #2 every time he goes out...What is the consistancy of his stool most normally..And has he always been on Blue Buffalo?

Have you tried a probiotic?

What do you mean is it like jaundice?..

@ roger  jaundice is a kidney thing with babies where thier kidney wasnt fully developed when they where born, but some ultraviolet light fixes it, and its not genetic, normally poop good and solid, when he goes and he goes everytime i take hime out,,,thx @ turk

Here's the skinny on Epi: http://www.epi4dogs.com/

The poop usually comes out as 'greasy, yellowish cow plops'. Sometimes it is grayish. So I don't think you have anything to worry about!

Gel-like stuff in the poop is mucus, which is a symptom of inflammation in the bowel. Resting the digestive system for a day is a good idea, then follow with rice mixed with cooked ground beef or chicken.

The commenest cause of diarrhea is what my vet politely refers to as 'dietary indiscretion' , meaning the dog ate something it shouldn't have: the neighbour's garbage, a decayed mouse, poop, etc. etc. Parasites can cause it, too, especially giardia. Has your dog been drinking out of ponds or puddles lately? It might have picked up something.

Two cups of food a day is not all that much. At one point, my female was getting 4 or 5, and STILL looked skinny! I think she was around 5 to 7 months when she was going through this 'bottomless pit' stage.

If this bout of loose /slimy stool is not the norm I would not be too concerned with that just yet. I would obtain a stool sample and bring that with you to the vet. I would also ask the vet for a probiotic or do a search on this site for probiotics and purchase one on line or at a pet store.  I don't think you can go wrong adding a probiotic to support intestinal health ,,

If you are not happy with his weight you might consider changing his diet..Slowly of course..

I think you are jumping the gun on EPI just yet..If you are concerned about the possibility of EPI I would research as much as you can about the topic and see how others are controlling it using a diet , ect... ...Thats just me...

Let us know how the appt. goes..Good luck..

@sunsilver, yeah he's never looked anything like that.......thx for that relief...........funny thing is that when we first got him, we laugh saying we should have named him mikey, cause breeder had him on some crazy german food i couldnt find, so (knowing it was going to be messy) we just 100% switched him....he had no issues, then one time then one time store ran out of blue buff large puppy, so i just got blue buff puppy, my girl was messy but he was fine, then store restocked, and we went back, no issues....we used to think he had steal linned stomach...... about i think a week ago things started changeing, his lipstick was sticking out and staying, i payed it no mind after getting on here and talking to vet, then i noticed it went away, next day back out this time it was rolled skin, it started to get JUST a LITTLE BIT purple, and he was lickin it, so i went and bought some KY, and helped him out, and now runs, and just 10 minutes ago, after not eatin since sat morning, only eating this morning (6 hrs ago) vomitts, could be that he's lickying KY and not agreing with it, i dont know, but since he was so much smaller than his sis i was already geting worried

Take a sample to your vet and have it checked for coccidia and giardia....nasty stuff....

Metro given at antibiotic dose will kill cox and also clear up any possible gut infection if that's the issue.
Panacur will get rid of worms and also giarida....
He was also given fish/potato diet for 10 weeks...........no other proteins..... to reboot his system..

Metro first, then panacur, then 21 days after the start of the first its repeated.

These don't always show up in the sample.

I had a rescue recently that was recuring bouts of what you described....owner said it had EPI and didn't want the dog...  He did not have EPI, but was weakened from having this in his gut for so long.

Since he already had the poops, we switched his feed immediately.

My vet treated him with the above, it cleared up and he gained weight and became beautiful, and he is now living the good life with a wonderful family.
