I,ve always found my females (K9) Bond closer to me then my males. My females are very reseptive to my emotions more so then the males. For instance My males have always been aware of when I was sick or nor feeling well but my females 2 inparticular were very concerend when I was ill they would lay with me in bed and never get very far away. My females were more concerened with me being pleased during obedience then my males. I think it is just easier for me to form a strong emotional bond with my female dogs ? has any others found this simelar or just the opposite.

I was a FIRM believer in owning female dogs (I, myself, am female) and then, I had two male dogs. Both of which have bonded closer to me than anything I could've imagined.
My females were obedient and hung on my every word, but the current male I have (Beau) and a male I've had in the past, (at the risk of sounding egotistical) in essence, worship the ground I walk on....I can do no wrong in my MALE dog's eyes.
In MY opinion, my two males were also FAR more affectionate than any of the females I had ever owned (both GSD and other breeds) and much more in-tune to my emotional state. I loved my females, don't get me wrong but there was never the "closeness" I find with Beau.
Just my own experience, though.

She also prefers the company of male relatives to that of me.
I think dogs have their preferences too. Who knows, with the females, maybe it's the hormonal thing? I know us human females tend to get a little (I use this term loosely) batty when it's "our time of the month" and my females could always sense that and steered clear of me. LOL

I wholeheartedly agree with you.
I was thinking the same thing when in discussion in your other post about the breeding you are looking at. Female dogs with male handlers usually bond better and are probably much more compliant with male owner/handlers.

So very true. Rose hangs on my every word or move, but during that time....she gives me an extra 10 feet clearance and looks like she is tip toeing beside me during our walks.

Now, with my boy, he'll jump into fire for me and doesn't care about my hubby much. He's obedient and listens to him perfectly, but even my hubby says - he's YOUR boyfriend... And I think that's the difference with men bonding better with females and women bonding with males. My boy is extremely affectionate and gets really happy and excited when I'm pleased with him (not so much for my hubby). When we do obedience, he starts his prance when I call him "Good Boy". He's the one that will lay or sit next to me for hours and take every petting I can give him. A big, fuzzy Teddy Bear with giant warm tongue...
But females are much easier to train, more enthusiastic about doing things -t least that's my experience. My boy wants to please me, works for me and not for treats/toys but often he's got his own idea how it should be... And often he behaves like my boyfriend and not a 'dog'... Few days ago I had to pick him up (80+lb) and carry him across the house to show him that he doesn't make bad decisions ('trash diving') and runs away from me when I call him...

I find females to be more tractable then males, I find them to be hugely superior when it comes to detection work, they are able to focus better, they dont give you as much crap as some harder males do and that makes my life somewhat easier.

Now the GSDs; Reiker just turned 10 in March and up to three years ago in April he was the only one and did everything with me. Now due to the girls everything is divided at times. But the girls thrive to please me, thrive to be with me and go everywhere do everything. Doesn't matter if I'm in the house, outdoors or in the truck the girls want to be there. At my feet, at my side! Now, Reiker loves to go for a ride, loves to train, loves to be outdoors, loves to run. The girls just love it a little more with more intensity! The girls will stay on the bed the entire time. Reiker will be down on the floor at the ends or sides or downstairs. What's funny is the girls will jockey to see who can be closest to their Master. Nudge the other right out of Poston to be at my feet. It's almost like they are competing for me. Working, training, playing, running harder, faster, longer! Awesome but a little funny at the same time. I say over and over when you have multiple dogs it it so much easier to see them doing everything but especially proving, displaying themselves and their individualism.
