Attention All Schutzhund Friends, its with great sadness I report that Denise Scelsi McDonald needs our immediate help! On Monday night she lost her beautiful dog Kobe and right now her other dog, 2x Region 7 SchH3 Champion Jovi vom Danubius is fighting for her life. We do not know what suddenly killed Kobe and is making Jovi ill but right now she has racked up over $10,000 of medical bi...lls trying to save her dogs life. She is out of surgery and stabilized but it does not look good. She will need to be hospitalized several more days at minimum and the cost is approximately $3K per day. Please if you can chip in any amount to help Denise through this awful tragedy so she does not lose both of her dogs, any amount would help. I can attest she is one of the kindest people in this sport and needs our help. Please cross post as well!

More information on the situation from Nelli:

Denise lost her beloved Kobe yesterday (Tuesday) evening, just 6 hours after his very first clinical signs. :'(
12 hours later Jovi was rushed to the hospital with the same exact, horrible symptoms. Now Jovi is in critical condition, after ...a major abdominal surgery. Her whole intestinal tract was compromised due to compete loss of blood circulation for many hours. Intestinal torsion, severe swelling and systems shutting down.. She is only alive now (against all odds) because she is being cared for by some of S.CA's best surgeons. To be exact, 4 board certified surgeons, 2 critical care doctors and many staff members were working on Jovi during and after surgery. Jovi is now in intensive care, heavily sedated and Denise was already able to spend some time with her. So very sad. Jovi must stay alive!! Doctors said that if she is strong enough to stay alive for 24 hrs, the following 3-5 days are still extremely critical. The bill for today's surgery only (which includes the 24 hrs after care) was $10,000! and had to be prepaid. Additional days of critical care (without any extra procedure) will be $3000. Please friends, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

That's terrible, am I right to assume she doesn't have pet insurance or are they refusing to pay out?

She probably has no pet insurance, I do not have any clue if she does. Some don't have limits that high for one incidence, that could also be the case here.

Do they have any idea of what happened?  Poisoning maybe? My prayers are with poor Jovi and yourself!
