These debates never cease to amaze me! Eventually they all fall apart. I agree with David, about the B.C. mag, I remember the last discussion when I said, The Catholic Times is more interesting, If you miss a deadline, you could be 2 months before you see a result. If it could be set up on a web site, it would be up-to date at anytime,  The Accredited scheme will go the same way as the Affix count, die in a drought. Has the £20 pledges reached the thousands yet! The reality is in David's last few posts, APATHY is a word Paul has used many times in his posts, It's ingrained and wont move. What's the answer!!!! I don't think any one knows, or we would be doing it already. Sue talks about the Breed council administrator, Is this a real person, do they have a name, I remember the B.C. spending a raft of money on a computer system and getting John Allison to run a data base, Is that still running and up-to date! Instead of trying to run a group of GSD clubs, there will be plenty of M.P. vacancies soon so apply, you will probably be successful, and  Sue can be minister for dogs and buggies and get her fit for purpose passed by a large majority, and change the name from Westminster, to the Dog House! Who would fit into all the other key jobs start with No 10. answers on the next post! Paul, if Kath was to see the B.C. mag coming through you're door, you might end up in the dog house! But she would be o.k. with the catholic times. Bill Owen.

Hi All,
I have been reading this thread and I am a member of my local club and do buy the BC magazine.
I wonder if any one could tell me how I go about attending BC meeting.
I would really like to get involved.
I now the obvious answer is to get off my backside and go,  ha ha

I have been out to dinner, so have only just read the latest posts,  Bill , stay off the Jack Daniels, remember, least said, soonest mended.

I remain your best mate, so i'll let the Catholic thing pass over me, but you must say three decades of the rosary  for being facetious to susie, and after you say them i want to see your tongue, to make sure it's not black, and that you truly are contrite.

  Regards Paul.

The breed show scene is in dire straits, the breed council have ignored potential initiatives to bring necessary change, and have failed to develop their own initiatives. They lack vision, they lack ideas, they lack any sense of urgency and worst of all they are a blocking force to any meaningful progressive ideas coming from anybody they dislike. Within 3 to 5 years our GSD breed Shows will be all but finished, with many more GSD breed Clubs giving up. The only real future for our breed is Kennel Club General Championship Shows. 19 sets of CC's every year without ANY ROTATION. Shows which no matter how low the entries retain their CC's. These are the shows that more GSD exhibitors should concentrate on. Little or no outside attraction, only a limited amount of gaiting, handlers up to almost any age without exhaustion. Very pleasant atmosphere around the rings, normally very good facilities and very good venues. Much to offer, and they can cater for GSD entries of 50 and less no bother, without a whimper and no deterioration in venue or its facilities - definitely the future for our very limited GSD Show scene, and coming very soon.

the breed council is there for all of us and it is up to us to use it to its full extent blaming others for not doing something is futile if you want change then make sure your rep has the full backing of your club get them to speak with other reps about any proposals you have make sure you have a seconder and then proceed to the meeting get it on the agenda and at the following meeting vote old hat i know but that is how the system works and personally i look forward to my mag every month and the breed council can work if it is used properly.

The above comment was in the "General Topic" threads... I'm guessing that it was really meant for this thread?

So Sheila says its NOT boring, well facts speak louder than words. The magazine is losing money, the magazine does not have enough subscribers, the magazine is expensive, and the monthly magazine may have to become a quarterly magazine.
Magazine content lists, as printed above, normally fail to fulfill their promise, much like any anticipation you have of receiving your magazine, when it arrives it is usually disappointing.

Jim h: The Breed Council does NOT work like that, it should, but it simply does NOT.

The Breed Council has failed, it will continue to fail, the GSD show scene will continue to collapse, the GSD Clubs will continue to fold. The only way to possibly halt and reverse this is for a radical changes to be made, and to start dismantling the CC Rotation system, ensure that a GSD Breed Club Championship Show takes place each month of the year, introduce the "accredited GSD system" which West Yorkshire is proposing, putting the Breed Survey at the very heart of our GSD breeding system here in the UK, have the magazine printed much more cheaply by another printer, have genuine and meaningful Breed Council working parties formed to consider and report back with recommendations on key subjects, and for GSD Clubs and the GSD Breed Council to work much more democratically and transparently. The GSD Breed Council, or the GSD Partnership also need to tackle the Kennel Club over them allocating 19 sets of CC's per year for GSD to the General Championship Shows, and only 13 or 14 sets of CC's to GSD Breed Clubs, when the KC statistics prove the entries to GSD Breed Clubs over the past 10 years or more are significantly higher than GSD entries at General Championship Shows. The stats clearly indicate the sets of CC's should be the other way around, with GSD Breed Clubs having 19 sets per year and the General Championship Shows having 13 or 14 sets.

Such a radical programme is needed, and needed now if there is any willingness out their to reverse the erosion of our sport and improve the future for our breed, here in the UK.

if the breed council does not work like that then how does it work i am under the understanding that the breed council was set up to work for all breed club members that it was a democratic council duley elected to represent the gsd breed on maters that were passed at meetings and to pursue these maters to a satisfactory conclusion if that is not what it does then what does it do
