Been there, Done that, WORN OUT THE TEASHIRT !!!

Only too often have Breed Council Working Parties signalled  the DEATH of an IDEA and so it is for that reason alone that I consider them the SCURGE of the Breed Council.

Indeed, at one time I had a saying :-
"If you want an initiative stopped or an idea to fail, create a Breed Council Working Party". Sadly, cynical but true.

WARNING
THE MAJORITY OF IDEA's PASSED OVER TO A BC WORKING PARTY FOREVER APPEAR TO REMAIN NOTHING MORE THAN WORK IN PROGRESS !!

The influential and powerful few operate "under the radar" - they purposefully keep their heads down and this appeals to the majority, they know it, and they use it. If they joined in open discussions it would EXPOSE them for what they are, very shallow on the whole. Some use publication opportunities to snipe, similar hehaviour to a fox. If they were to enter into public debate, they fear being assessed and worse still they fear exposure and losing. They talk with each other on the phone, by email, in car parks, and in cosy corners. We should all be aware of this. Then ask yourselves WHO agreed to the GSD Partnership report back from their Kennel Clubmeeting which wants us to join the flawed KC accredited breeders schenme, I am certain the GSD Breed Council delgated NEVER agreed, and I would be amazed if the League council agreed, and I seriously doubt if the BAGSD executive agreed,
Now let us see if any of the "influencial" will dare to answer. I am sure they will not, because THEY WILL LOSE by an simple honest answer.

well if the working party is not working then surely its time to change either it or the people on it   i find that quite funny a working party that never seems to be working  maybe not the best name for it  eh.

A Breed Council "working party" should be renamed "dumping party" or "pi** off party" or "no chance party"

Whilst i agree with the majority of the criticism being doled out to.............. whoever they are who are supposedly " leading " us, unfortunately, i have yet to read on this board, or speak with anyone who has put together an alternative proposal.
I am sick of repeating myself on this matter, IT WILL ONLY BE RESOLVED BY A CLEAR MANDATE GIVEN TO THE BREED CLUBS, BY THEIR MEMBERS. Every member, of every club could, if they really so desired, call an Extraordinary General Meeting, .....   why not?  ... i dont have a crystal ball,  but lets pull a word out of the air ....... APATHY.... i am afraid  i'm
probably as guilty as the people i allude to, i just dont know what the answer is, sadly.
Look at the decline in show entries,   the very ethos of what we are discussing, if people cant be bothered to support the shows, we might as well wrap up now, i have expressed privately to my closest friends in Dogs what i am now to impart to every GSD enthusiast reading this thread, if we dont change our attitude and our methodology sometime in the very near future, in Five years time there wont be any shows for us to attend.
Food for thought,  or the ramblings of a middle aged man, who wants one last go to re create those Halcyon days? i will let you decide.

  Regards Paul Rattigan.

The GSD Breed Council is like the Labour Party  and POLITICS in the UK today. We are stuck with them, even if we don't want them, and like the majority of GSD Breed Club members who never attend the Breed Council, when we have a vote we simple don't bother to. I understand that about SIX to EIGHT GSD Breed Cubs attend each Breed Council Meeting out of almost 40 member clubs. No wonder a few can control so many.

We should all stop subscribing to the BC Magazine. It is expensive and the content quite boring, and it is losing money. There is much more and much better information available on various websites, and surely everyone has realised that advertising in the BC Magazine is quite simply a total waste of money. Website advertising is far superior. Take it from someone who knows.

Perhaps the Breed Council should consider an "online magazine", but we already have Jaquenetta GSD web site with Show dates & Show results and downloadable Show schedules and entry forms, and Show information on Lararth GSD web site. Perhaps a BC "online magazine" could include Judges critiques, and Regional reports (if wanted), Letters (if wanted), Talk Turkey (not wanted), and articles (that's if anyone wants to read what 'Kiwi' and the 'Devon Dog Trainer' writes). Writing this confirms to me just how useless and an expensive waste of money the BC magazine really is.

This must be the same conclusion that the vast majority of GSD Breed Clubs have come to, about attending the Breed Council meetings - a total waste of time, expense and effort. They should seriously consider resigning and saving their BC annual subscription.
BAGSD have shown the way,
"don't join, don't pay, and still have a say."

So, No Breed Council, No Breed Council Surveys, No Breed Council Database.
Therefore No POSSIBLE BREED COUNCIL APPROVAL OF the WEST YORKSHIRE GSD CLUB's INTIATIVE of Creating an 'ACCREDITED GSD SCHEME'.
The Proposals of which have already been sent to the BC Secretary for submission onto the next BC Agenda for the meeting due to take place in July.

IS THIS WHAT IS NOW BEEN SUGGESTED?

WE SHOULD BE ENCOURAGING THOSE
"THAT REALLY, SINCERLEY, CARE" ABOUT THE FUTURE OF OUR BREED TO B****Y JOIN THE BC, ATTEND MEETINGS, TO GIVE SUPPORT AND CAST THEIR VOTE TO MAKE SURE INITIATIVES TO IMPROVE BREED ADVANCES ARE MADE AND NOT OVERLOOKED, OVERRULED, UNDERMINED OR HANDED OVER TO A WORKING PARTY TO BE SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET.

GIVING ADVICE TO DO THE OPPOSITE (i.e Leave and Withdraw Support) WILL ONLY ADD POWER TO THE FEW & THEREFORE
SECURE FURTHER DECLINE AND FUTURE DEMISE

I'm with you on this Sue.  The BC is for all of us... BUT... we have to contribute.  I had not renewed my subscription for a good few years; what John Ward had to say a while back, on another thread made me think and I renewed my subscription.

If you don't like the content of the magazine... get your finger out and contribute; make a difference!  We've all got plenty to talk about around the ringside... if it's not slanderous/libellous (LOL) why not get some of it off to the BC magazine?  There's little to be gained by moaning if we do nothing BUT moan.

Yes... the "power" is in the hands of too few.   There are also too many "back scratching" appointments and tickets!  If we can largely rid ourselves of THAT, it would certainly be beneficial... to us and THE BREED!

This really could be a new (ish) start... if we want it enough, if we're interested enough and if enough people have sufficient integrity to play fair.

I am with susie on this, because of the very nature of my last post, re.not reading, or not hearing a viable alternative to the present situation, regarding the various discrepancies that are supposedly arising, when our "LEADERS " meet with the KC.

I am also in agreement with Missbeeb, because like her, i also let my subscription lapse for the BC magazine, a fault i aim to rectify very soon.
Regards Paul.
