SORRY GUYS, AFTER SUBMITTING MY ORIGINAL POST I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO CHECK IF IT HAD ALL GONE THROUGH OK AS MY LUNCH WAS READY.  SO, OF COURSE SODS LAW RULED!! PLEASE NOW READ BELOW THE END OF MY LAST POST WHICH TYPICALLY SODS LAW DICTATED SHOULD BE MISSED OUT 1st TIME around ! lol

When applying to the KC for show dates you have to remember that the KENNEL CLUB HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO GEOGRAPHICAL KNOWLEDGE (goodness they cant even tell the difference between a Scheme that AIDS the Health and Welfare of Pedigree Dogs from one that mostly AIDS the sales and finances of BREEDERS (not necessarily those breeding a litter of PEDIGREE Registered DOGS or from Healthy specimens), so to expect them to be aware of any clubs geographical relationship with another is an ask too far. Therefore, when applying for show dates you have to ACTUALLY DOT EVERY 'i' AND CROSS EVER 't' when it comes to telling them what Clubs you DO NOT WANT TO CLASH WITH and as for our Open Shows , I always classify that we want to AVOID EVERY DATE TAKEN UP BY A BREED CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW. Then take a copy of this Complete KC Open Show request Form. This still wont necessarily confirm they will do their job right but at least it gives you some ammunition to fire at the KC.

Sorry you have met this problem and I think the suggested website by Myfanwy is a brilliant idea.
Best Regards
Sue

Hi Myfanwy

Yes you would need to include ALL SHOWS from both sides because the KC will be considering ALL and certainly would not allow Sth of Scotland GSD for example to hold a Champ Show on the same date as the UK Club even though we all know the two Clubs would attract a completely different set of exhibitors challenging for the tickets, for as said earlier the KC do NOT allow two sets of CC's to be awarded to ANY Breed on the same day. If my memory serves me well this fact is the reason why even at our Two Day Show both sets of CC;s have to be handed out on the 2nd day which is the reason why despite the fact the Irish Two Day often only has one judge, they do not do one sex on the Saturday and the other on the Sunday, simply because the KC WILL NOT ALLOW the handing out of the CC's to be split over both days (as this would obviously take the allocating of CC;s to any other Club out of the equasion for this entire weekend which would probably seriously effect the timetable of the 'All Breed' Club brigade).

Hi Heather
Yes you are right in saying it would be brilliant if someone could do it just like Jayne did, but even then it didnt stop the same problems from cropping up,  Just ask Bolton GSD Club, I am sure Carol and Ken could provide you with a catalogue of senario's when this happened to them, even when Jayne was still alive and doing the job. And I am sure Jayne herself would have probably told you that even she had problems with Clubs who didnt get in touch with her or who had told her of their provisional dates but then when the KC had refused them they had forgot to inform her what they had changed to.

Top and bottom of it is once again DOWN TO THE KC, they are the ones who could make it so much easier BUT DONT..
For example instead of just printing the allocated date of champ shows willy nilly in the KC Gazzette , once all CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW Dates are approved they could (if they wanted to be more helpful) produce two Seperate Lists, ONE showing Championship show dates of the 'ALL BREED CLUBS' , the other showing the Champ show dates allocated to  BREED CLUB's (with a seperate list for EACH INDIVIDUAL Breed) then these two lists be sent out to each Breed Club or perhaps better still, to each BREEDS NOMINATED POINT, be that be an INDIVIDUALLY NOMINATED PERSON , CLUB OR BREED COUNCIL. That way the KC cant argue we have created lots of extra postage for them but at least we can then all see at the same time the dates each club has requested and being granted. IF THAT CLUB for whatever reason THEN requests a change of  DATE (be it they lost their venue, judge or whatever) at least that would probably REMIND IF NOT PROMPT that particular Club Secretary into INFORMING THE BREEDS NOMINATED PERSON, CLUB or BODY of the change who in turn would inform ANY OTHER CLUB THIS CHANGE WOULD EFFECT.

So as usual (as is so often the case) this is yet another problem that with better management  &/or more co-operation the Kennel Club could so easily help avoid. AND ALL IT TAKES IS A LITTLE BIT OF EXECUTING BRAIN AND A LOT OF ADMINISTERING COMMON SENSE AND MOST THINGS COULD BE WORKED OUT FOR THE BETTER, SADLY THE KC ONLY TOO REGULARY DISPLAY NEITHER.

Best Regards

I look forward to there reply and hope they are willing to provide the information required to run the web site I plan smoothly
