Shelley Strohl

by Shelley Strohl on 11 March 2008 - 17:03

My excellent producing V Gabi vom Arolser Holz, SchH 1, KK1, a1 is looking for a boyfriend that can bring a coupleof bloodlines I don't have into the mix, and still maybe a good line-breeding for some consistency in the litter.

Problem: I'M STRAPPED with costs of new kennel building. I  can't come up with stud fee till pups sell or maybe a puppy in exchange, not too far away.

Gabi, just turned 7, has produced a number of titled, (SchH  1-3- atttractive scores )KK1/2, V/SG working dogs from a variety of studs. (Few/any listed here on PdB for some reason, but I can give names/titles/etc. )  She's kind of a stickler for "looks" so I'm thinking she'd prefer a KK1/V dog for her "trist."

She should be ready to breed late this week or next.  She's an easy breeder. No, I have not done a progesterone level.

Suggestions?

Shelley Strohl: Suggestions?

Considering that Gabi failed to conceive when she was last bred, not checking her progesterone levels is ill-advised--JMHO.

Why not take her back to Eagle--he is not that far from you?

Shelly with all due respect and don't take it personal... If you can't afford to come up with the money for stud fee, how are you going to pay to maintain the puppies health? Maybe you need to wait until you're able to afford the stud fee to breed? It's just a responsible thing to do. The last time I checked breeding and maintance cost a lot of money, more then a typical stud feee would cost.

Good luck finding someone who can provide you free stud service.

Brittany.........

Why are you always looking to start things? Always a jab here and there...whats your point? I have only been on here a few months....yet I have noticed...many times you always seem to what to "Stick it" to someone or start arguments.......makes no sense to me....None

I am sure Shelly is well aware of what things cost and how expensive litters are to raise......why say ANYTHING.......if all you have is something negative to apply to a thread?

I normally don't say much here...usually do as I was always taught...you learn more by keeping your mouth shut...and listening....asking questions when you don't understand.....

Maybe you can start a thread on the cost of bringing up a batch of Pup's....so we ALL will know when to and when not to breed....Thanks!

It doesn't cost me $800. to raise a litter once the female is bred. I pretty much have everything needed, all supplies on hand,   and am all set up here for whelping. This is not an unusal request.  Happens all the time in pro breeder circles.

At least I have a good set up for the pups once they get here, and usually have half sold once female is confirmed in whelp. $ from 1st sale goes to stud dog owner, at which time all papers are signed.

Something goes wrong in whelping? I'd have to raid hubby's emergency credit card. But he won't give it to me unless there's an emergency.

Shelly...

Taking into consideration of the source of the flame... I wouldn't take it too seriously.

Wrong! You learn more by asking questions (even tough questions), not keeping your mouth shut. How are you going to learn when you have your mouth shut all the time?

Maybe you can start a thread on the cost of bringing up a batch of Pup's....so we ALL will know when to and when not to breed....Thanks!

Why cant you start up the thread about the cost of bringing up a batch of pups? What's stopping you from achieving this?

If you want to really diversify, there is always Jed--LOL.
