Vereinigte, If Pedigree is not as significant as the dogs willing disposition (in the case of a pup – predisposition) towards hard work, why would you not apply the same criteria by which you selected your working bloodline dogs? Insist that both sire and dam meet the breed Standard and are not oversized, have a correct scissor bite, a normal hips, tight lips and feet, ect. I’d look for sire and dam with older progeny to get a better idea of how he/she has produced in the past in terms of type, temperament and hip scores and if you want something truly unique, you’ll stay away from the VA bred dogs! :-* I recently inquired about two pups from Germany, one for $1100 (including shipping) and another for $1250 (including shipping) but had to withdraw my inquiries do to a terminally ill Family member who requires financial aid to get his affairs in order, but I’ve expressed to the Breeders that I will inquire again about pups in the future. Why would a US Breeder of All German Bloodline or imported dogs, discourage someone else from obtaining a pup from overseas? – Increasing the chances of selling ones own dogs seems a pretty good explanation! Which is not to say that the exclamation for caution by some, is to be taken lightly, as there are some seriously vicious Breeders/Sellers out there, who’d love to teach you a thing or two about ‘Trust’ being a character fault! But you find those Breeder/Seller’s ready and available all over the world. Thus, whether you buy a pup for $1200 from a Breeder in Germany without Guarantees or for $2500 from a Breeder in the US with Guarantees (but possibly no intention of honoring that Guarantee), is a decision you’ve gotta come to terms with on your own!
