Dog registration by AcAaleX on 30 June 2012 - 13:38 |
Hello, I tried to register my dog, but it says Duplicate entry: Dog already exists, but that is another dog. What should I do?

Change the name so it isnt the same name as the original dog? Am guessing you cant have two names the same on the same database

That is a little bit stupid, I should write my dog`s name as it is in his pedigree, I shouldn`t have to change it because then it won`t be correct. Moderators should consider solving this problem in the system, because it is normal to be more than one dog with the same name in the world...

Can you please supply the name of the dog? I can't look into it without the name.

Mad Max, huh? Of course there are going to be other dogs named Mad Max, but most of them also have a kennel name or Ch in front of their names. Here is the list. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/american_staffordshire_terrier/search.html?q=Mad+Max&index_in=All&results_in=10 You could just add a 1 or a kennel name to Mad Max. Every entry has to be unique for search purposes. Admins can't override this and we really wouldn't want to as I am sure in the GSD pedigrees there are a lot of Rockos and other names. It would be very confusing if 30 dogs were named Rocko or in your case 10 Mad Max's.

You are partially right, but every dog has unique registration number in his pedigree, so there shouldn`t be any problem or confusion. I think that people would be more likely confused if they search for a dog and his name here is not same as in his pedigree, but they can always select right dog from search results by his registration number.

Ac-most people don't have access to the registration numbers, and when researching pedigrees for informational purposes such as breeding and purchasing details unless it is a well known dog, the breeder usually has to give you the FULL registered name. This database is, as far as I am concerned,is the best source of accurate info. I also have to question if the AKC accepted just MadMax as a registered name , I'd be willing to bet that while there might be 10 here, but hundreds of variations to Mad Max at AKC.
