| I have a seven month old girl who has some serious tummy issues. The vet said she has IBD and now I need to give her a diet of either pork, rabbit, or kangaroo. That would be fine but it can not have any trace amounts of chicken, beef, venison, bison, lamb, duck, or any kind of fish. I am having a hard time finding a food that doesnt have chicken fat, eggs or fish oil as an ingredient. I asked him about raw and he advised against it all together but said if I wanted to try I should get her bowels stabalized first. Does anyone know of any foods that have a single source of protien and still give a sick pup all the nutrients they need? |

| Ibd is inflammatory bowel disease. I'd recommend switching to raw. Chances are getting her bowels stabilized first is going to be a waste of time because switching her to raw is probably going to restart an upset anyways, why put her through two upsets if it's not needed? |

| So can I presume you have tested her on the 3 meats that are recommended. The only prepared diet I know of with kangroo is Addiction; also has rabbit. But If you KNOW she can eat rabbit, kangroo and whatever else I would just buy those meats, pork is relatively cheap, my guys do great on it raw; just DO NOT overfeed, make sure your bone to meat ratio is good for her and go for it. You can use ground pork, pork necks, pork roast is probably your best bet find on sale then cut to size and give one or 2 pork necks. Pork chops without bone good, you can give with pork neck for the bone. Etc. The possibilities are endless, you could also try goat, any of the game meats, just some food for thought. Best of luck with her, Nan Was not sure if you have tried any source of fiber for her; like plain metamucil. My friend with a Siberian Husky with serious problems did find some relief for her dog using plain metamucil; gives fiber but given in the right dosage, helped firm up the stools. YOu could also do your own cooking. Ugh. The cooking gets old for you and finding the right balance can be a challange. The HOnest Kitchen makes Preference which has no meat, you add your own meats specifically designed for problems like this as you can use the protein that works for your dog and you can use whatever variety of meats that works for your dog; already has the vit/minerals in formula. I just love it. Vegi's/fruits with alfalfa for arthritis, etc. Great Stuff. The other formulas have the meat added in them already. With the Preference you only have to soak it for 5-15 minutes add the meat and feed. Really easy. Best of luck, this cannot be too fun for you or the dog. Nan |

| A relative of mine has mal with similar issues. constant vomit of bile. we put her on high protein, low fat and eating smaller meals 4 times per day. worked beautiful. started by feeding partially cooked ground chicken or turkey, brown rice, frozen mixed veggies (peas, carrots-NO CORN). we slowly introduced her to canned and dry that has 2 times the protein as fat and limited ingredients. so today the girl gets a mix of dry, canned and homecooked 4 times per day. might be worth a try. |

| Thank you for your help! I tried feeding Ilya, that's my girl's name, pork but she didnt do well on it, threw up everytime she ate it. I ordered the Addiction Kangaroo and she is doing really well so far. Slowly but surely putting on weight, we have about 8 more lbs to go until we reach what would be an okay range for her size. I am also giving her pumpkin for fiber and acidophilus which really helped with the loose stools. If she gets any kind of treats her system gets thrown out of whack so we are now training using balls and tug toys, which she loves but not nearly as much as food. Yet again I would like to say thank you for the info on Addiction. |
