Exploring different heartworm prevention meds.  I have talked to some people that use the sheep drench. It is a 0.08% solution instead of the higher cattle solution.  Anyone use this?

The website that Beth posted is absolutely correct.  You can either buy the cattle 1% which should be diluted OR the sheep drench which you DO NOT have to dilute.  There are NO other active ingredients in the sheep drench besides ivermectin.  This is purely for heartworm prevention, as some people give higher doses for other parasites.

Good info , as I have no clue about sheep drench and unless my vet told me I could use it I would not..MY vet told me to use the Ivemec !%

Glad to know this.

Others will take it under advisement

Ivemec is a dangerous chemical and has to be used carefully.

I am on my way outside now to hand out my meat treat and their Ivemec...time for their med.

I do not dilute anything...THEY get their cheese or meat in mouth and then I slip to back of mouth with syringe , close mouth, they swallow and I hand them the other meat or cheese..they never miss a lick..

My dogs are very very food driven so they could care less about that trickle of Ivemec I shot in back of mouth..
lol

there is more than one way to SKIN A CAT...AS LONG AS  the Ivemec has no other ingredient in it..

Some brands have another ingredient that is not good for a dogs heart system and body.

I use the Sheep Drench now that the powder form is not available.  It is great and just the right strength.

Hi Hunger. Yep I even called that place in Utah and no more. I used the last of mine this month--I went to the site Wufpack put up and I am going to get the sheep drench too and go that route.
Too bad the powder had to run out--I sure like it and the dogs liked their mac and cheese.......................

All of that just to say you did not know about .08% compound? You realize that  .08 is .92 from 1%. Your over dosing your dogs.

Also, it was my understanding that dosing Ivermectin with other medications was safe as long as you are giving the proper dosage of Ivermectin.
