Before you sell your puppies to customers are there any medical tests you do for them?

Thanks

Back when I was breeding, WAY back when - I did fecals on the pups, if any puppies showed any sign of sickness, they were rushed to the vet and if bloodwork was needed, it was provided. It was MY job, as their breeder and original care-giver to ensure they were healthy until the day they left my property. Even after they left, I STILL offered FREE vaccinations to puppy clients, and offered Microchipping for $15 per dog. I also would vaccinate their other dogs, ones that I hadn't produced.

It was a good way to regularly see the puppies I produced and make sure that they were getting their shots on schedule. I've also offered FREE boarding for puppy clients. Like I said, another way to keep a close eye on my puppie's progress.

Pups are never let go before their second round of vaccinations and deworming twice. All pups are microchipped before being sold. Things can still happen but I do my best to thwart it at the vet before selling. My vet gives the pups an extreme lookover because he is aware of the moneys pups are sold for and the expectations of new owners. If someone wants to buy a cheap dog they can go somewhere else to get it in my opinion.

I see boarding other people's dogs as a health risk to MY OWN dogs.  I had fecal and bloodwork express shipped to an out-of-state facility on only a single pup from my previous litter, EPI and several other tests.  Everything tested negative, and no parasites.  I don't tattoo, and I don't microchip until they are older.

Depends on the breed.  I have Australian Cattle Dogs and aside from the standard worming and vaccination protocals listed about the puppies are BAER tested (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) for deafness and depending on whether on the PRCD status of the parents the pups are DNA tested for PRA.
