Just wanting to vent/commiserate with anyone that has/is cared/ing for a DM dog.

I usually go camping for a week at the end of May and right now I am trying to decide if I should stay home or try to find a pet sitter that is willing and able to take care of her. I took her with last year even though she could not walk. She was still able to get herself up enough to scoot around. Now she can't even pull herself forward, can only pivot in a circle. She is still able to get around in her cart though. I have to express her bladder and if I don't want a surprise package I Q-tip her twice a day.

It is not "that time yet" as she is still very alert (has that spark in her eye) and has a good appetite. She and my other female will still play and I try to involve her in as much activity as possible.

She had a bladder infection about 2 months ago and now has another. I'm sure this will be an ongoing problem.

Starting to think about the inevitable and the dreaded decision.

Just wondering about others experiences with their dogs.

Don't forget to worry about yrself and yr own needs first.

If you are not good with yrself then you are useless to anyone or anything else in your chain of dependents.

I am sure you will do right even if that means, for the sake of the dog....

That's the worst when the body fails the heart/mind. I think you have to consider "quality of life", and will know in your heart when it's time. Don't feel guilty - you are human.
