I like DS, they are interesting. Wish I had the opportunity to see more of them, but they aren't that popular.

The only working DS I've ever seen, I think, was a Dutch/Mal cross and kind of a psycho... with a loser for an owner to match. Definitely not my cup of tea.

The problem is  many  people import x malis/dutchies without any knowledge about the  background in the bloodlines ,  some bloodlines

are very dominant, hard and  over the top drives  they  ae not not easy to handle  a  and some

have serious  handler agression most of the handlers today don,t tolerate this or can,t work with this kind of dogs.IMO

by vk4gsd on 05 July 2015 - 21:07

I wonder how much handler aggression is simply lack of bonding and stupid training?

BlackMalinois

That is a good question  vk4gsd   but there must be match between dog and handler, and yes good bonding is

very important and cost time

A lot of people went the real tough serious    bloodlines but   most of them can,t handle this dogs proper

have seen this many times. Punishment is not always the solution a clever/good dog  handler is also a good thinker

and yes there are many stupid handlers who  are not honest in training  and don,t think.the right way.

people who get to see a sleek, well behaved striped dog tend to get real excited about "how beautiful!" she is (or at least that's my experience) and think she is a striped malinois. And I rather think that is the best way to explain the breed.

I have seen some great dutchies in police work and some not so great ones. I know of one that is lights out on drug detection but couldn't or didn't want to track to save his life. I knew another one that'd had crushing bites, left many of bruises on my back through a bite suit. Dutchies and mals take dedicated handlers. I had a mal that was a jerk at times. He would let you know if he thought a correction was over the top. Once I figured out his expectation of how he should be treated he was great. But just my personal observations.
