The reason the breed standard specifically states white spots on the chest are undesirable. The dogs with them usually have a white undercoat or the more white has a better chance of producing dogs with white undercoats. A white undercoat is not only a fault, its a DQ.

Might be a nice all breed dog show dog. But as a German Shepherd. She is a lousy example of the breed. Guess when the queer judge is a sky terrier breeder. They can over look a breed standard that states her obvious trait is undesirable. The sad thing show people are willing to overlook this for a foo foo show dog. She is not the only dog in her pedigree with this undesirable trait. People only list successful show dogs. Wonder how many of the offspring in this line have produced not only the undesirable trait, but the DQ fault as well.

Americans see American lines, well they are American and winning all breed shows. American so it must be great!

The undercoat you are talking about is not a DQ under the AKC standard.

by beetree on 17 February 2017 - 02:02

Don't spread nasty rumors about what produces undercoats and what are DQ colors. I just read up on the FCI standard and the color white is a DQ, not that of an undercoat. The undesirable trait of a white patch is measured against its severity in relation to its deterrence in workability, health and welfare. Looks like someone must have an agenda besides a disagreeable countenance.

(America is great, at least that part is right.)

Max, you could not pay me to take her, BUT your argument is soooo ignorant. I am not sure how the sexual orientation of the judge affects the breed judging. Can you please, in your infinite wisdom, educate me on that?

Jenni just guessing but I do believe a lot (or at least some guys, myself included), feel yet another working mans dog has become feminised.

I know it sounds old fashioned, irrational, unjustified and sexist but just being honest of how some guys like me see it.

It wasn't until a female trainer helped with a few training problems before I could even take a women owning a gsd as an actual thing...just the truth.

Max, the ONLY things you can insult are Rumor's chest patch and the judge's sexuality ? Gimme a break - she is an ASL ! so surely your criticism could be a bit more constructive ? No, they are not good representatives of GSDs per the original Standard; a 'doggy' bitch is surely no more to be recommended (anywhere, any 'type') than a 'bitchy' dog; BITS of white are not 'forbidden' in other standards, as was pointed out already ^^^; lighter/whiter undercoats are much more common than you think, no matter what colour the guard coat. All that said, it takes the owners / handlers just as much effort to get these dogs to the top in the Show ring as it does anyone else. You can let them enjoy their glory, surely ? No one is making you come on here and sling rude remarks ?

WTF??? SMH, Vk4GSD!

I've never owned any breed BUT the GSD!

(Okay, not counting a Shiloh shepherd, which was about 95% GSD, and turned out to be such a disaster temperament-wise that I rehomed it...)

I can't believe people think she looks doggy o.O!

I think she's very feminine and a breath of fresh air, because she's feminine without being over refined.
