My dogs tend to chew the furniture if they don't have anything else to chew on. :( Eska totally ruined a coffee table that was only 3 years old, and has also chewed 3 of the 4 corners on the piano bench.

But yeah, elk antlers, bones (that can't be splintered)...much safer.

Yep much safer, but out of the question for Becky... I'm really open to sugestions, but don't forget, Becky is allergic do meat and derivated produtcs...
She can't chew a bone, in the summer froze a sardine to give her... Isa stoll it and Becky was left with anything...
Of course I wory about she eating some bigger piece and getting really sick but what is the alternative? To a not alergic dog there are many choises, but for Becky neither we or the vet remember anything else...
People have sugested to me a go-kart tire, but I can't get a old of it and it isn't more safe that a kong...
Tryed the all natural stripes but as they are allways from some animal part she is alergic to then, tryied natural dry salmon stripes, she eats then hole and don't even last for a minute... What do you can we try more? (We really are open to sugestions)

The pet stores here have tires especially for dogs to chew on. Here's what happened when I bought Star one:

Oh, YUM!

Less than a week later...  :(

Have you tried her with elk antlers or deer antlers? They don't have any flesh on them. It may also be possible to find large bones (that can't be splintered and swallowed) that have had all the meat and cartilage removed.

Star has allergies, too. It seems to be mainly chicken that dogs react to, as the birds are raised under such un-natural conditions, and fed so many hormones and antibiotics and other crap. I have Star on a limited ingredient diet (Natural Balance Lamb and Rice) and she seems to do well on it.

SS, sounds like you have some bored dogs!
For both of you I would suggest more enrichment activities if you aren't able/willing to provide supervised toy time.

I just finished moving (Jan. 15th), and am still unpacking, plus working. The dogs will get more attention when things have settled down a bit. I crate Eska when I'm at work, and now that Star is 9, she doesn't get into as much trouble with the chewing. She was still a puppy in the photos I showed above.

I have never used these (yet) but a friend uses them for his Tibetan Mastiffs. Maybe something to try?

My dog flew through those Himalayan chews. They are a hard cheese thing made out of yak milk. They STINK.

Will try to find those elk antlers or deer antlers, never eard of it, but will denetly try.
As for the bones, the only bones we find at pet shops or in the internet are those meaty ham one, I know they exist and have read about then, can't find it over here...

ZweiGSD the roots actually gave me an idea... I problably won't find it right now in portugal as the cheese sticks just aired on shark thanks about 2 week, so soon we will have it selling here I bet but not right now. But can't I find natural roots miself, cut it, clean it and won't it do the same efect? is it safe? what tipe of tree can I use?

Sunsilver I've actually talked to a biology teacher that told me an interessting story, her nephew is allergic to meat, as they were on vacation in an old litle village deep in the middle of no where, an neighbor killed a cow he has personaly helped to be born and fed her all her live, all natural, she never even need any type of medicins. She insisted with her sister in law to let the kid eat this huge steak from that cow, the kid ate it and did not reacted... She had explaind that to me as she was saying exactly the same thing could happen with Becky, we just need her to get fully healthy so we can try it an see the reaction just for the meat, unfortunatly there is always something else getting to her... We have tryed diferent types of meat before, bouth on a small local butcher and had been told they where biologicaly bred, but she did reacted, mean while I found a friend that breeds chickens and rabbits, so next time we try some meat that we know were naturaly fed... We will see...
I totally blown over the amount of gsd I've meet that are allergic to meat... curiusly, mainly female dogs...

Ana...I'm curious...Why can't your dog chew on bones? RAW Bones...

Most dogs that are allergic to Chicken...Really aren't allergic to the chicken what they're allergic to is all the crap that's fed to the chickens to make them grow...So if you can find a Natural Chicken Farm and get Fresh Chicken you'd probably be alright...

But it does come down to a Trial & Error effort...

Q Man she is alergic not only to chicken, she is allergic to all types of meat we tryied so far, and she reacts to the bones, we tries the big cow bones and lamb bones she reacts to both...
