Pedigree Database started out as a breeder tool and has ended as an open tool for breeders and dog enthusiasts all over the world. The information is open and modifiable by all users making everybody benefit from the joint effort.

Because of its origin this website is broken up into subsections per breed, rather than countries or breeder topics (Breeders are primarily focused on their own breed).  The main page for each breed is a pedigree name search rather than text search (i.e. searches for dog names within pedigrees)

Depending on your needs there is a wealth of information to find and actions to perform here.

• If you are looking for general dog advice (training, grooming, vet issues , etc.) use the website search or search the German Shepherd message-board (longest living and most active)

• If you want to browse our classifieds (puppies, grown dogs, for stud, etc.) then either view our complete listing or enter the subsection of the breed that interests you and view the classifieds there.  (Due to  high volume in classifieds for the German shepherd dog they are not listed in the complete listing, as to not completely drown out other breeds)

•  If you are looking for breeders in your area check out our breeder listing and narrow the criteria to your region and country.  Each breed subsection also has it's breeder section narrowed down to that particular breed.   For convenience we have also marked breeders location on a world map, allowing you to easily find breeders in your neighborhood.

• If you have a purebred dog and want to find its or its ancestors' information (picture, progeny, etc.) then enter the subsection for the breed in question and search for the pedigree name (note that often owners will rename dogs after they get them from the breeder,  you need to search for the name that is in the pedigree papers).  For each pedigree you can:
  
  
  • See a picture of the dog (if one exists)
  • See picture galleries (if they have been submitted)
  • Get a pedigree tree for up to 7 generations
  • See its siblings and progeny
  • See pictures of its progeny for 2 generations
  • See the line-breeding of the dog and do a reverse line-breeding

When registered (it's free) and logged in you can do the following
