Male GSD found (25 replies)
|
|
My husband received a call from a national tattoo registry this evening because he is still registered as one of UScA's tattooers on their official website (which of course he is not anymore).
He was told that a male GSD has been found in the "Northeast Section" (that is all that is known right now to the registry until they contact the finder). The tattoo No. is AI8CPA4 . UScA has so far not returned the registry's email inquiry. The only other thing we were told is that they know how UScA's tattooing system works because they get several reports a month with GSDs found or lost who were tattooed with these codes.
Julie, the representative further explained that the finder of this particular dog has found him on or around October 20 already and has done his duty by checking with all surrounding humane societies and animal shelters if somebody reported him lost. After a certain timeframe, the registry is allowed to list the finder as owner (if he wishes to keep the dog). Afterwards, nobody has anymore legal recourse to claim the dog. Wow, that is scary, isn't it?
So, if anyone has information on that dog or which tattooer has the code "I" in the Region A (Northeast) and which breeder has the code "CP", please contact Julie at 1-800-828-8667 or send me a pm.
There is no additional information on that dog as to showline vs. workingline, color, size etc.. available at this moment.
The registry's website is www.tattoo-a-pet.com
Thank you guys!
Chris

Good news - the breeder/tattooer has been id'd. Now hopefully he will know who the owner of this dog is.

| Great news that! I don't know about this finder's - keepers crap tho. If I searched hi & lo for my dog and it took a while to locate her, well, I can't be held responsible for my actions if someone tried to tell me I had no claim to her. Grrr |

I sent the breeder an email, hoping to hear from him soon. He is a member of my former club.
Debi, I find it hard to believe but that is what the lady told me would happen. And it would not surprise me at all. Many dogs end up in the shelter. If the finder wants to keep the dog that is one less problem for them.
What bothers me even more is that this registry gets several reports a month about found GSDs with a UScA tattoo No. in their ears.

Glad to hear the breeder has been ID'd. Now let's hope this boy can get home!

I AM JULIE, THE ONE IN CHRIS'S MESSAGE ABOUT THE FOUND GERMAN SHEPHERD.I JOINED THIS MESSAGE BOARD TO TELL
YOU BREEDERS AND OWNERS THAT WHAT HAS BEEN GOING ON WITH YOUR BREED AND THESE TATTOOS IS SHAMEFULL.
I GET AT LEAST 4 OR 5 CALLS A WEEK FROM PEOPLE AND SHELTERS ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY AND IN CANADA ABOUT THESE GOOD LOOKING SHEPHERD DOGS FOUND WITH THESE EAR TATTOO'S THAT I NEVER CAN GET STRAIGHT ANSWERS ON OR RECOVER TO THIER RIGHTFUL OWNERS.
AS A RESULT, I REGISTER THE FINDERS WITH THESE DOGS WHO WANT TO KEEP THEM, AND THE SHELTERS WHO I CAN FIND NO INFO FOR ARE EUTHANIZED. IF YOU ARE THE BREEDER OR OWNER OF ONE OF THESE DOG WITH A TATTOO IN ITS EAR.YOU NEED TO REGISTER THAT TATTOO WITH ME.
I CAN'T GET OUT OF THIS GREEN SO LET ME SAY, I DID NOT COME HERE TO SOLICIT BUSINESS, BUT TO HELP YOU TO PROTECT YOU PETS.
I APPRECIATE ALL YOUR COMMENTS AND BE FREE TO CONTACT ME AT MY EMAIL JMOSCOVE@AOL.COM
SINCERELY,
JULIE

THIS IS JULIE AGAIN, I TRIED TO CALL THE BREEDER AND THE TATTOOER OF THIS FOUND DOG, AND NO ONE HOME ,HE MIGHT GET BACK BY 10PM TONIGHT, ANSWERED THE WOMAN WHO ANSWERED.
IS THIS RESPONSIBILITY. IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT TO YOUR DOGS IF LOST?
AND BELIEVE ME, IF A FINDER WANTS TO KEEP THE DOG AND REGISTERS WITH US, THE PREVIOUS OWNER WLL NEVER GET THE DOG BACK. EVEN IN A SHELTER, AFTER A CERTAIN TIME PERIOD IT BELONGS THP THEM AND THEY CAN EITHER KILL IT OR ADOPT IT. IT IS LEGAL................................
BE AWARE I ALSO SENT AN EMAIL TO YOUR SHUTZUND E.MAIL ABOUT THE TATTOO, WHICH THEY SHOULD KNOW ABOUT. THEY HAVE YET TO ANSWER ME. WISE UP PEOPLE PLEASE PROTECT YOUR PETS. OUR WEBSITE IS IN THE ORIGINAL NOTICE BY CHRIS, OR EMAIL OR CALL 1800 828-8667 FOR ANY QUESTIONS. |

I e-mailed Becky at the USA office late last night and had an answer from her by 9 am this morning. The breeder of this dog was identified, with his phone number. Hopefully he will know who owns this dog, or who owned it. How is the breeder supposed to know when dogs of his breeding get lost, or change hands later in life? There is no way. I'm sure now that you have the contact information for him, he will give you the owners information, and then the rightful home can be found. If the owner doesn't want the dog or no longer owns the dog you can find that information as well. That is the good things about tattoos, even if they are not registered with your company. They can be traced back to the breeder and then the owner from there.
The "finder" is not legally entitled to keep this dog unless the owner no longer wants it.
I will call the breeder myself to make sure this is straightened out and the rightful owner is at least contacted.

Was the dog scanned for possible microchip??? If not .. then it seems to me that all has not been done (in the dogs best interest) to find the rightful owner. I would then question if this were not an attempt to use the situation with this dog as an opprtunity to try and solicit buisness

JMHO.
I think anyone who watches this board on a regular basis can see that when it comes to the well being of a lost or found dog, even those of us whom may disagree on aregular basis come together for the good of that dog.

I just called the breeder. He has talked to Julie already and is getting his records out to provide contact info for the owner.
Personally, I think the response time was pretty quick. Julie called us last night and the breeder is found and cooperating 24 hours later. That proves that the dog world sticks together and that UscA came through as well - even though I have become disenchanted with them (the amendment to the bylaws).
Thank you everybody!!

IN REGARD TO WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE IDENTIFICATION OF THIS TATTOO IT IS CRIMINAL
THAT IT IS TAKING SO LONG AND SO NEGLIGENT BY YOUR USA SHUTZUND ORG, STILL NO REPLY TO MY INQUIRY.
I HAVE POSTED A NEW SUBJECT ON THIS BOARD FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO READ THE WHOLE STORY.
SEE GSD TATTOOED FOUND.
READ IT, I HOPE IT NEVER HAPPENS TO YOU. |

See thread: GSD TATTOOED FOUND REPLY and the replies there. But, this is not an attempt to solicit buisness.
JULIESUE, i THINK YOU MIGHT WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO READ SOME OF THE POST HERE BEFORE YOU COME OUT WITH YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS NOT CARING OR BEING RESPONSIBLE.
If your only and legit concern is getting this dog reunited with it's rightful owner, you should be less condeming and alot more patient. It is and was your tone and accusations towards the breeder and organization yesterday that made me question your motives. Today I am convinced that your motives are pure monetary and not about doing the right thing. Please don't come on here and try a use scare and guilt tactics to solicit buisness. You obviouisly do not know or understand how much our dogs and the well being of others dogs mean to us. Up until your two post today I was thinking "not a bad idea, might be worth checking into" now however, I wouldn't even consider.

| Juliesue: If you have been contacting the USA office with no response regarding 4 or 5 dogs a WEEK, Please provide the tattoo numbers, dates you contacted USA, and the names of the people you spoke with regarding the 20 dogs (give or take) from the last month. Obviously there is a great big black hole somewhere, especially since it took them less than a day to respond once contacted by Molly. Perhaps you have the wrong phone number or are contacting the wrong organization? Something just doesn't make sense here. |

I have the same question Sueincc just asked. If what you have claimed is true, I would like to see some proof. If you can in fact prove these statements many of us would like to know so it can be addressed at the USA level.
If you choose not to post this proof, not just claims, on one of the two active threads you can message me with the information.

Julie you sent me two PMs telling me I can call you for the information. I would prefer you send me the information via PM if for whatever reason you are not comfortable posting it on the open board. Please provide the tattoo numbers of the approximately 20 dogs you have been called on in the last month that have USA tattoo numbers, the dates you called USA office about these dogs, and the names of the people you spoke with, and what their response to you was.
Also are you sure these 4 to 5 dogs you hear about each week are all part of USA? There are a number of other tattoo organizations, and GSDCA WDA also has a tattoo program. Have you contacted them to see if any of these dogs can be traced through other tattoo registries?
I'm sorry, but I am not going to call you, as I prefer to have a record of all our correspondence. I'm sure you understand.
I do want you to know that in regards to this lost dog, I am very grateful that you have gone the extra mile to find the owners of a dog who's tattoo is not even registered with your company. I am sure the breeder is also grateful, as will be the owner of the dog, once this is straightened out. As was said by others, the owners of the dog may not be aware he is lost. They might be on vacation, he might have escaped from a boarding situation, there are a number of valid reasons why it might take a couple days to reach him/her. I can tell you if it was my dog, I would be so relieved that you went to so much trouble to reunite me with my beloved dog. |

The tattoos called to us on German Shepherds is indeed approx 4 or 5 a week, I do not always call USA, because most of these ear tattoos are done by clamps and they fade so people cannot id them perfectly. Unless it is perfect USA can't help. also it does not have to be thier code, but the owner can tattoo whatever they want. I would suggest to those of you who have dogs with ear tattoos that are not readable to have them retattooed on the flank or belly by pen type. This is a painless procedure that you can watch the 13 min video showing several dogs being tattooed at all ages done in a few minutes each.if interested home page www.tattoo-a-pet.com
. ours do not fade we have very capable vets and tattooist. This is not a solicitation of your business, but merely for your pets protection, if you wish.
also a recovery we made of a stolen dog was posted on chip or tattoo? from a happy customer if anyone wants to read it.
It was not solicited by us as what happened to the dog we tried to find the owner, the readable correct tattoo to which to date no owner has come forth to claim is in the hands of the finder, Free registered, and if an owner comes forth, it will be between them and them.. A HAPPY ENDING I AM PROUD OF.

| It could very well be the owner doesn't want the dog, and dropped it off. Therefore it is a happy ending! |

Per the post above by Jim, I indeed did call him,and explained that all efforts were made to find the dogs owner by the people who found him,2 mos ago. I certainly know the hearbreak of losing a dog as the reason TATOO A PET was formed, was because my dog was stolen and I never got him back. So I am very aware of the loss and tragedy, and feelings.
But I did everything I could do, checked eveywhere looking for him. NOT KNOWING IS THE WORST.
I agree to a happy ending because we do not know what would happen to this dog if the animal control picked him up, or the finders turned him in. They could have euthanized this young dog, without a blink . The fact that he is now being loved and taken care for in a home, is to me a HAPPY ENDING. The owner knew the dog was tattooed thru USA is there a report? remember, it was not my obligation to do anything for this unregistered dog,but to state that for the callers. I took that extra mile to TRY AND FIND THE OWNER. |
|
|
|
|
AND THAT FOLKS IN ALL MANNER FOR THE DOG IS A HAPPY ENDING.
IF YOU OWN A DOG AND IT COMES UP MISSING IT IS THE OWNERS OBLIGATION TO LOOK FOR THIER DOG. IF YOU ARE NOT LOOKING, HOW WILL THE FINDER FIND YOU. |

Yes I had phone conversation with juliesue, per our phone conversation it seems that the finders of this dog did make every effort to locate its owner, juliesue went even further by trying to get information from UScA and the breeder. I agree that it is very good and happy ending for the dog. He is now safe and in a home that hopefully he will be taken care of loved and happy.
So juliesue as I posted here earlier not knowing the efforts made and being frustrated for the owners and dog, I want to
also publicly apologize for doing so. Great news for the DOG

THANK YOU JIM FOR UNDERSTANDING.
IF MORE PERSONS WOULD HAD TAKEN THE TIME LIKE YOU TO CALL AS YOU DID, THEY WOULD HAVE SEEN MY MOTIVES WERE HONORABLE, AND ALL WAS DONE TO FIND ITS OWNER.
I COMMEND YOU. |
