Years ago, 2005 or or, I voluntarily gave a blood sample of one of my GSD's to prove out the DM test.
Several years later, they called and asked if my dog had any symptoms, she didn't.
At that time I was told that she was a double clear.

Not one of my dogs with double clear has developed DM.
Not one of the puppies produced by double clear dam and sire have developed DM.

I tend to have faith in the test.

Sitasmom, if that was the SOD1 test, does that mean you are satisfied that the SOD1 test (and only that test ?) is the correct one to use for DM in GSDs ? How do you feel about other testing available ? Does anyone have a way to identify the SOD1 test by an internationally recognisable title, so that for information purposes visitors to this board could always identify it easily no matter which countries they post from ? The whole question gives the impression of being a confused mess, with arguments about validity and funding in the States ...

It isn’t that difficult to understand. The testing that ran out of funding also ran out of proof.

Doing a search for SOD1 testing in Europe will provide international readers with the available concurring studies thus far.

Doesn't necessarily identify the particular test that Kim found satisfactory, Bee. I was hoping she would respond to my exact queries in the first part of my post.
