Let me get this right... America's the worlds super power and has it's largest Military Base: Fort Hood in Texas, and they need to call in the local Police for protection ?
Like why wasn't our soldiers armed ? This could have been prevented after the first shot or two. Period.
Now I suppose the traitors legislative, judicial and executive need to protect the military from the military. Or is it illegal for soldiers to carry guns on base ? Hummmmmmm
Bet the barracks are rowdy now. That police lady shouldn't have been there .. what's next SWAT or FEMA ?
Crazy times.. I think.
That guy chose his death sentence by thinking such a thing and acting on it.

Yes, I've been on a many military base. I just don't understand why the local police were the first responders.
Since when does the federal, state or local agencies fire at the military ... why ?
This is not good.

First off I believe this had more to do with a mentally unstable individual than it did with his religion.
Not saying religion didn't play a role, but this isn't what I call terrorism.

I don't see the link with Waco or Weaver here at all, not relevant.
Its far too easy to slap a term like terrorism on something rather than get to the truth.
Its has nothing to do with an Herb..... either.
Trust me, we will never know the real truth here... no way..no how.
The fix is in, and the spin is sickening.
This rests on the Military Establishment and their incompetence in my opinion.

I only feel for the victims and their families at the moment.
Hero's is another term that gets used far too often, it takes away from real hero's.

Every soldier on every Military Base in America can carry an "open" firearm via the Geneva Conventions. MP are dispatched, soldiers are "present ready".

I don't think I can help you in your understanding then.
Base policy varies from base to base, and from one branch to another, I don't think the issue of who's armed and who's not makes any difference here.
The problem is this particular individual and how the military does business.

Fall out I believe from Fort Hood... a couple days ago a man walked into the Stissing School in Pine Plains New York with a disasembled gun, went to the mens room to put it together then walked into the principle's office and held him hostage. Police moved in, SWAT teams arrived. Kids were locked down in the rooms they were in. One young 7th grader inside the building made a sign reading "1gunman, 4 hostages" and held it up for the SWAT team to see. The Principle was a former school psycologyst and was able to talk the man down. Fortunately nobody was harmed, the guy has long police history for various issues, so is by no means a choir boy... but it seems that he got the idea following the Fort Hood attack decided it was one way to get attention he felt he needed/deserved/wanted..........

Pine Plains is a tiny rural town that hardly is a dot on a map. The most exciting news in these places is the farmer's cow getting out and walking down main street... Kind of frightening to see something like this happen in an idealic little town.

This answers WHY the police showed up first, with guns ready, because everyone else showed up to fill out paperwork, newbies... is how I gathered it works, the always ready with guns part was probably going to come up real quick.
I think this is from the THE OPRAH interview off of the BBC news:
“The entire incident was very confusing and chaotic,” said Sergeant Manley, who was washing her patrol car when she received an emergency call. “There were many people outside pointing to the direction this individual was apparently located, and as soon as I got out of my vehicle and ran up the hill is when things began getting really bad and we started encountering fire.”
Sergeant Todd, who turned up at the crime scene in a separate car, added: “When we first approached the scene there was a slight incline we had to go up. She broke to the right and I broke to the left and we both took cover. I gave [the suspect] commands — ‘halt, drop your weapon’ — and he fired on me. There was really no time to think. We just relied on our training. We’re trained to shoot until there is no longer a threat.”
And this latest incident makes me wonder about the political correctness regarding the use of profiling: maybe it is a good thing, some of time. One has to go with the odds, yes? Crazy to ignore facts for the sake of a pleasant fantasy.

Anyone who does not believe that Hasan, a fanatical Muslim, committed these murders is in denial. Early reports stated 3 other soldiers were taken into custody and questioned. However, they were released.
Hasan is the murderer and the Military is the enabler -- political correctness, diversity, fear of being charged with discrimination and racial profiling is "killing us."
