Hi iam new here
i have had german shepherds all my life all imported from germany with top bloodlines
i have always liked dobermans but always bought a shepherd but considering getting a dobe because iam tired of picking up the hair...
my questions are as follows
how does there temperment compare to a shepherd ?

i work all day and have been told by doberman breeders that they will not do well if home all alone for long time

i was told that the breed is very sensitive to voice etc

could i leave them out side in a run while iam at work summer or winter( all the dogs that i have had live in the house with me when iam home)

i have been told that doberman are more of a one person type of dog..i have to young children that dont live with me but come over on weekends...

and i definetly would not want a american dobe as i think that the euorpean dobe seems to be a much stockier and bigger head and better colour then the american

can anyone recommed a good breeder i would be interested in a show quality male

iam trying to do my homework before i purchase a dog but it is between another shepherd or a dobe

any ifo would be great and thanks in advance for your time to whoever responds

I have never had a GSD but living with a dobe is fun.I have had 3 and they all lived in the house. Mine would hate to be out of the activity and are not called velcro dogs for nothing! I had 2 dobes when I had my children and they were fantastic with them, protective of the buggy (but noy too much-especially the femle who had had pups) I never left them alone with the children ,but I wouldnt leave them with my Jack Russell either!
I have european lines and I love that stamp of dog ,large and square, very dark black and rust.. My dobe now ,Boysie, is very attached to me but loves my teenagers and all their freinds, I find he remembers people who he met as a puppy and goes mad when they come, even if not often, more suspicious of newcomers.Accepts people who he likes ,ignores those he doesnt.Good with other dogs, well socialised as a pup, but would hold his own if pushed. He opens the door(unfortunately cannot close it) I cannot find a bin he cannot open,he opens the microwave, the breadbin and would happily take food straight off thebbq. He is just a great companion but very demanding I do a lot of differant things with him, you need to stop boredom or they will eat your house and anything in it.Right now he is upside down on the settee watching sky TV and will stay there as long as poss if wet.
My husband calls him a turncoat as originally he was his dog, but typical bloke ,the way to his heart is definitely through his stomach.
He is now snoring so I am going to go and wake him up and take him tracking.
Dont choose a  dobe because of their hair(it sheds a lot ,all the time) choose one because you love the breed as they,in my limited experience, are not for the faint hearted ,they are beautiful, demanding, funny, tough, infuriating, adorable, unique and bl***y hard work, I wouldnt swap mine for 10 of any other dog breed but whether I would have another ??

Good luck
