| Can anyone give me the results for the progeny groups? |
|

|

I guess, I was wrong but I thought Mittlewest was sanctioned from WDA events? I thought the WDA banned this kennel for coloring dogs. Have I gotten this whole thing wrong? Can someone clarify this for me?

Divmstr1988,
Yes, I see dogs owned and shown last year by Martinez like Yasso and Connerz without co owners are now owned by someone else. You are correct it appears to be a husband and wife team, Gene and Pam?? I am not familar with them but they sure own a lot of Mittlewest dogs...... I suppose I gave too much credit to the WDA for the sanctions, I see Mittelwest even has a progeny group. Well some things never change. Maybe, I shouldn't quit USA just yet if the same bs happens in the WDA, seems neither organization can police themselves very well.

|
| C'mon, Jim! We knew that the samw dogs would be shown and Mittlewest would continue to roll right along. It takes nothing to write some one else's name on the line for owner. All it takes is trust that they won't screw Mittlewest...or a side agreement covering the subterfuge. |

Thanks Robin! Gah, what good is a fancy show website without results!?!?
|

Hey Robin, I was there, ringside during the progeny groups, and actually it was Quartz that got the "first place" - the judge actually said "I know we are not supposed to rank progeny groups but if we did, I think Quartz had the best one", then he put Teejay second. Kevin Murtal was not there. The judge mentioned it again about Quartz when he gave him a VA, saying how much he liked the progeny group best. Hope that helps :)

Thanks,
Like I said...via cell phone....
I wish that I had been there this year!
I keep checking the NASS website, to check my "given" info......but nothing is up yet.?!
Thanks again for the correction......I'll change it on my info paper.

Hey Robin,
Congrats, you should be very proud.
Nia and Bob you are both right. As jaded and cynical as I am from my job, I still hope that the right thing will be done. Guess there are many ways to play and beat the system.

No rankings for the progeny groups...I should know that but I didn't...I never really had any interest in it before this year. Are they simply shown as part of the decision making process for the kennel group? We learn something every day...
Still happy with the results! |

Molly and all...
Here are some of my impressions from observing the bite work at NASS:
(I am only listing the ones who I thought were good, comparitively, within this venue)
Females-
V 6 Yada Mittelwest - Good grips and especially good on the long bite. Very nice guarding also.
V 8 Quinny Bullinger - Very good on the "attack on handler", but almost missed on the long so she was shallow and somewhat dirty on the guard.
V 12 Yule Mittelwest- Had an especially good guard and good on the rest.
VA 1 Landra Brunnenstrasse - REALLY nice work overall! Good full grips, nice guarding, excellent speed on the long, good strike and commitment. Nice bitch!
V 13 Nikola Westenberger Land - Very nice aggression and confidance overall with GREAT grips!
VA 6 Ophelia Wilhendorf - Good "attack" and OK on the long. (sire Solo Frutteto)
jmho!
Males:
V1 Yasso Mittelwest - Very good over all.
V 7 Intro Bullinger - Very good! Nice speed and commitment with good grips
V 15 Barolo Agilofinger - Excelent foos, somewhat dirtly and chewy but good over all.
V 12 Zambo kahler Heide - Good in all aspects on the "attack" and "long"
VA 5 Quartz Wustenberger Land - Good, but dirty and slow outs
VA 7 Tyson Empkendorfer Park- Good over all, but shows some handler sensitivity/worry
V 16 Ulrich Blossom Land - Very nice over all and the "Attack" being better grips than on the "long"
Again just my humble opinion.
fyi
Blossom Land was the 5th kennel group. Their first time, so they had very young dogs.
Riccor Salerno was the 3rd progeny group. Kevin did not show.

Were there any dogs that were actually chased this year? If so, which dogs?

Or, came off the sleeve on the stick hits, failed to engage at all - . I'd like to know which dogs as well as those that were chased.

OK, I was going to skip those as people get uptight about things like that... but it's ok... I'm sure someone recorded it all so it's all there to see anyway.
Females:
V2 Nova Kuckucksland- Almost left the helper but still got pronounced.
Destiny Wilhendorf - DID leave the helper and got Sufficient and was pulled.
Madonna Kahler Heide was chased
Qizi Bullinger was chased on the long
V 10 Beate Bullinger came off on drive but regriped, but was very good on the long. Received pronounced.
VA 5 Izzy Napaweinberg - Almost came off on drive, missed on long seemed very nervey. Received pronounced
V 9 Dezi Mittelwest - VERY hesitant and nervey over all. Received pronounced
V 5 Peyton Mittelwest - Poor over all. Received pronounced
VA 2 Jazmin Wustenberger- Land- VERY poor and nervey. Received pronounced. side note: she was in first place for a while and I was horrified that she might win!! But the better dog won in the end. SO GLAD!
Males:
Yappo Kahler Heide (pulled) very shallow and dirty. Received pronounced
V8 Emilio Winnloh - slow, shallow, but ok... received pronounced
VA 8 Zambo Riedschlurgi- VERY poor heeling, and just ok on the rest. Received pronounced
VA 4 Pegasus Aducht - very poor guard on the attack, better on the long but chewy.Received pronounced
VA 2 Bobo Arlettca - slow to the helper, just ok on the rest, handler shy. Received pronounced
V 14 Aldo Neuberger Wald- slow but ok in the end, Received pronounced
VA 6 Nick Altpoertal - Shallow, slow out. Received pronounced
V 4 Page Urbecke - shallow and fearful. Received pronounced
V 2 RJ Taz Blossom land - scroungy, VERY shallow very poor over all Received pronounced
more in a bit....
|
|
|
|
|
continued... males: V17 Artos Hanness - one tooth grip, very shallow Received pronounced.
VA 9 Jaeger Haus Munsinger Dunn- Very shallow, too calm, slow hesitant.Received pronounced.
VA 5 Quartz Wustenberger land - Good over all, but dirty with slow out.Received pronounced.
VA 1 Bill Fuerstenau- Very shallow, Dirty, nervey. Received pronounced.
VA 3 Danny Wilhendorf - Shallow on both, hesitant on long, somewhat nervey. Received pronounced.
VA 7 Tyson Empkendorfer Park - Good but somewhat handler sensitive. Received pronounced.
V 9 Fargo Wilhendorf - very handler sensitive, but good on the long. Received pronounced.
Zeager Temar - CHASED
V 16 Ulrich Blossom Land- Very nice attack on handler and ok on the long. Received pronounced.
All other dogs not mentioned were "OK".
On behalf of the dogs that did not do well... I feel that alot of them the problem was training. Some not, but especially the handler sensitive dogs one has to think that they are either too sensitive in general or the training was to quick and harsh. Definately not as bad as some years, in general. |
|
|
|
|
Did anyone expect anything different, sad that these dogs even got pronounced let alone VA rating, and these dogs will be bred over and over. I hardly believe the comment "believe it was mostly a training issue" how about typical because of temperment.
Denise |
|
|
|
|
Oh yes!
There were alot of us at the show who expected something different - in the female class as well as in the male working class.
24kgsd thasnk you so much for putting this wonderful picture on the website. This will remind me of a wonderful time I had with a very special dog who is as good in the ring as on the working field and in the home. Thanks for trusting me Robin and Carlos. I appreciate alot that I had the chance to train Cuervo!
|
|
|
|
|
Denise,
With all due respect, you weren't there and you did not see them. It IS a fact that show line dogs are not trained as well and it would be nothing more than nieve to think otherwise. I do give you the fact that it is hard to distinguish between the two, but it is all MY opinion. I have BOTH working and show lines and have seen these facts for many years now. I truly hope that one of the reasons the VA 1 bitch won was because of her nice bite work. Yes, there is hope!

I would like to take exception to the comment about Nova Kuckucksland. I was at a trial today and spoke to the front half helper at NASS and asked about Nova and what was stated above is absolutely incorrect. She had full grips and didn't even come close to leaving the helper at any point in the exercise. I have seen this dog work myself and she is absolutely correct and unwavering in her bitework. This dog is structurally and temperamentally excellent.

I saw Emilio in St Louis I think two years ago and he was very good, one of the better males in my opinion. Wish there were videos, without them who really knows? Opinion is always based on personal experience and subjectivity.
Happy to hear another female with good work won, in previous years I was very impressed with Clarissa Blue-Iris, what a bitch!
edit: Just took a peek at Landra in the database, WOW! Just gorgeous, not extreme, athletic looking with great pigment and a beautiful, expressive head. Interesting lines, too! Who owns her and who are they breeding her with? (Not that I could afford one, I'm sure, puppy prices in the US are highway robbery!)

|
|
| Thank you for all of the nice thinks about Landra she lives out here in CA . |

Hi Judy K,
My notes could always be wrong. That's why I state that it is just my opinion.
I think I do remember that the trouble with Nova was in the back half/courage test. If my memory serves me correctly she started the bark and hold and then decided she was done. I believe the handler yelled and got her back so that she did not fail. But AGAIN!!!! my memory and notes could be wrong.
All,
Yes, all things are subjective. I am a VERY hard judge of bite work and tend to look at things more on the Schutzhund standard than show standard. I wish they were the same but they are not. This is seen not only in the bite work it's self but in the heeling. MOST show bite work does not require the dog to heel between the excersizes and allows TREMENDOUS handler help both vocally as well as physically. But most Schutzhund enthusiasts DO heel the dog off leash between the excersizes and a handful of the dogs at the show did also. The vast majority of the show handlers do not have the dog heel and they are barely under control. This may also have something to do with the fact that some handlers are not the dog's owner/trainer?? |
|
|
|
|
There were some really nice dogs at the NASS.
I was impressed with the working female Yatta Vom Mittelwest, hard biting machine she is. Knocked the helper to the ground. way to go Mittelwest. Hopefully someone got some good photos of that.
The picture above is cute, Gina was so sad to leave Cuervo behind. It was a tear jerker.
24k, great shot. ( Hi Julie)
