Hello!

New to this board, but not to German Shepherds. I have had them all my life up until a few years ago. Now, I'm married and a stay at home mom to a wonderful 2 year old little boy and we are now currently searching for a GSD to adopt into our family! We are located in Indiana. Can anyone recommend some rescues?

Thanks!

I don't live in Indiana and can't give a personal recommendation, but there is a German Shepherd rescue in Indianapolis, Indiana. http://www.germanshepherdrescueindy.com/ . You should also go to www.petfinder.com and do a search. It will bring up the available German Shepherds in your area. Good luck with your search and kudos to you for looking to adopt. There are so many GSDs in need of homes. You just need to make sure you get a dog that is the right match for you and your family, so ask lots of questions about temperament, energy level, drives and health. Mosty importantly be sure to get a dog that is really great with toddlers. Take your time and wait for the right dog.

Ditto on petfinder. I also PM'd you. Check your private messages up in the righthand corner of the screen. Posting here isn't a bad idea- there are sometimes breeders who need to place a dog free or low cost for various reasons.

You can also find dogs in need of rescue on facebook.  Thank you for looking to rescue a dog.  There are many out there that have been discarded for no good reason.  Take your time and make sure the dog you find is a good fit. Good luck!

Lots of good suggestions here.  I am also in Indiana so feel free to contact me if you need any help either before of after you bring your new family member home.
