Video on this post in unavailable.

The video was not to purpose of the link. The comments by the op, who is a LE officer who owned Puci before she passed, is what was pertinent.

Joan, the behavior exhibited by Puci in that post, is mirrored by her granddaughter at my place. I wish more of the modern GSDs exhibited such classic traits.......unfortunately they don't. And as time goes by, the selective breeding in this modern era is moving farther away from such classic GSD behavior.

To me, the genetic value of Puci, and her descendants that show her traits, is FAR more than a million modern "IPO dogs".

Oh that? Yeah, my late male and my Mali female chased an intruder out of the house. Guy came through the door while I was in the bathroom. That didn't go so well. Another time I had a Cop coming through the garage and into the backyard. Luckily the same male only got peppersprayed instead of shot. Cop just about made it out the door before he could get bit.

My other male, Dolf, you don't have to worry about a thing walking down the road with him. You just have to take a look at the dog and you know what he is and that he ain't messing around.

And the same goes for a lot of the newer top dogs. The American team has some of the strongest dogs you can possibly find. Those aren't some cookie cutter type dogs. They wouldn't even be dealing with dogs that would bail on a helper or have a defensive shallow grip.

I can not give opinion wordwide about GSD, but in Holland here are enough good genetic material
what I have seen, all that bs discussion about prey and defense, you people never get tired about that
discussion. I,m not worried about the quality about GSD here in Holland it become better and better
every year IMO. If people wanna have some names from good quality GSD here in Holland they can PM me, but not for $$$  sale or comercial reasons

My  observation US have some great GSD material for breeding @ this moment....

Barenfang, the post about Puci ( RIP) was about Puci's character, not about your dogs, nor a comparison of your dogs, nor a comparison of the 'top IPO dogs'.....valk was displaying his empty barrel mentality criticizing my dogs without knowing anything about them. So I posted the link with the comments about Puci only because I linebred on her ( many years before she passed).
BTW, I don't think the 'top IPO dogs' need you to come to their defense, they speak for themselves.

There are tons of different temperament dogs, tall ones, short ones, long ones and stubby ones, skinny ones and 'big bones'( lol)....same as people and every one is entitled to their preference without critism.....just because I prefer to be fit and want my dogs the same, doesn't mean I get t impose my preference on anyone else.....get the dog you like and feed it.

Joan, what I like about the granddaughter of Puci at my place, is that she is capable and does cover all of the dozens of acres, by herself, totally independently. Nothing, absolutely nothing (!) gets by her, without her active scrutiny and approval, through all of the areas she covers. You just cannot bypass her.

When she's within the house, she is stable, discriminating and has a complete "off switch". When she's attacking, what you see is courage, ferocity and "take no prisoners" fight-drive......this is real prey-drive (where the wrong people can get killed, and not merely bitten) with an astounding amount of pain tolerance that can power through painful hits and pushbacks, with her anger level scaling up to the resistance she encounters. Unlike the much more common play-drive masquerading as prey-drive that you see in the sport-dogs.

I have 5 other dogs, but she simply stands out.
