look at the breed survey, point by point. If applied correctly and judged properly what a great device for breeding GSDs. We do not have enough american judges to keep our sport going let alone growing. We need the German Judges to maintain what we have. Maybe America should look at the ''Fatherland'' and remember they might be saying to us [ USA] '' do what we say not what we do. ''

I think I see what you are getting at Blitzen, or maybe not. :)

I agree not much is going to change in the U.S. but I'm not sure anything needs to. The people interested in SV will have SV dogs and participate in SV events and comply with SV regulations. Same for AKC folks. It would be nice if there were more opportunities for training (sch. clubs) but it is what it is.

You ask over 20 years are the dogs better. Having dealt with both HD and ED over the years I can say that, imo, just the requirement for H/E certs is an improvement.

Has the breed progressed in the last 20 years. maybe I'm not the person to ask. I've been involved for 15. Since my introduction some changes have been made:

Elbows were not required, then they were optional, now mandatory.
HD ZW system established.
a1/a2 hips and elbows for VA.
Loose ears were not penalized, now they must be firm even in the puppy classes.
Dentition, missing teeth were acceptable, now you pretty much need perfect dentition.
Hips and elbows have to be certified to show at the sieger show in all classes.
Parents have to be from a performance breeding to get top placements in youth classes at the sieger show.
Height restrictions have been implemented and enforced.
DM gene has been identified and breeders are able to breed around the disease.
Performance is scored.
New system similar to the ZW system for overall body proportions being developed.

So really, has anything changed?

Dog1 Thumbs Up

I´m talking for Germany

Official spectators are sent to club trials ( several judges were sentenced or left SV )
no "out" = no passing score ( trial, Siegershow, breed survey ) same with heeling
RH2 became a breedworthy title
new sports were introduced ( agility...)
chips instead of tattoos
re-x-raying of the top studs
color tests on the Siegershow

new:
foreign bred dogs shown on the Siegershow have to be out of titled, breed surveyed parents, too.
a temperament test is in the beginning
