Just got back from our first WDC and national event, we competed in the FH championships. Proud to say my dog got 2nd place overall 90pts and performed well against some really nice dogs.  Most of our points were lost because of speed, this dog loves to track and even though not good for points her excitement and drive for the track was something I liked seeing in such a new, challenging environment.

All the teams did an impressive job working through challenging conditions. The host club put on a really nice competition, everything was top notch and well organized. This was a big deal for us since I had planned to do IPO1 at last years WDC but my dog had to have back surgery unexpectedly and is now retired from most protection and obedience.  Looking forward to competing in more tracking competitions, though looks like theres not really any other high level FH competitions in the US.

Congratulations on an excellent performance from you and your dog! It is refreshing to hear of a handler who chose to shift gears and focus on the part of the sport his previously-injured dog *could* still comfortably and successfully compete in, instead of washing the dog out entirely because she was not going to be able to work in all three phases. Speaks well of you as a dog person.

Congrats! If you are looking for other tracking events, the Canadian Kennel Club has several tracking tests, so I'm sure the AKC has something similar. One of the tests is Urban tracking, which could be challenging due to hard surfaces. May be just the kind of challenge your dog would enjoy!

Definitely want to get a TDX but seems really hard to find a club even offering a TD so may take awhile. Also starting to train for RH titles but may not do urban tracking because she is a detection dog and I'm afraid it might interfere with that. Thanks everyone for the responses!
