Lol. SRV is great. One of the Greatest, but NOT "best of the best"

He perfected and combined the styles of Jimi Hendrix, Albert King and Texas Shuffle.

Jimi Hendrix has been away for almost 5O years and he's still the best. Most innovative and his music stands the test of time. Most people give him praise for his solo work, but his rythm work filled with fills was all his and has been copied since.

Two of SRV'S covers of Jimi are excellent, BTW.....Little Wing and Voodoo Child

I think we better let her be right at least some of the time. Every two wrongs should be good for one RIGHT.

Lol, bee.

Vito, you hurt my feelings, now.

I I love listening to SRV.

Jimi does not give me the same feelings listening to him.

I'm not a musician by any stretch...but I am a fan!

I saw Bohemium Rhapsody with my son this past weekend. Loved it!

SRV is great. Just messing with ya

Good movie, eh? I knew that was out, but haven't heard much about it. I know Brian May is a great guitarist. Did your son like it? Does he even know Queen? I'm always amazed that my kids know some old bands and musicians. I don't know if music was better or worse, but it sure sticks around. Look at that new band, Greta Van Fleet. Young kids that sound like Led Zeppelin, which pisses a lot of people off, but Led Zeppelin, themselves, ripped off those before them.

I know you were, :-)

There's a video of him playing that same Jimi song live that he must have still been in his coke days. He plays behind his back, stands on his guitar, flips it and smacks it all over the stage, and that guitar was special to him. If I can find it, I'll post it. He plays the don't a bit faster than Jimi. That's his thing, I guess, but that's what makes Jimi, Jimi. He can kill it with solid phrasing, tone, timing, etc.

Here it is. You can just FF to 5:00 to see most of what I'm talking about.

Vito, yes, for me, it was a blast from the past, and more. And the icing on the cake was that I could enjoy this second coming with my son! AND... at a BTX extreme theatre for the first time. LOL Who knew there was such a thing? I mean, freaking chairs that become beds/lounges? I had nooooo idea! That tells you how often I go to the movies! I even bought my ticket online from Fandango and got a numbered seat. Which someone else was already in when we got there, but my son gently steered me away to some other seats that were equally acceptable. Phew! Scene avoided! lol

Any way, about the movie review. Yes! Go see it! I know you are a good decade +++ behind me, and you won't see it in the same filter as I did, because I was actually reliving the times in many parts which make it special and too numerous to explain to someone who wasn't living the times, but I can say that the film did a real good job with authenticity, with the music of QUEEN and the relationships involving Freddy Mercury. I certainly learned about those aspects, even though my sister and I could play our Queen album and sing along with every single word in the Night at the Opera album, by heart.

That I could share this with my young 20 something son, who is all about the concert scene of today, and how it was so different because of technology today is just... well, speaking with a sense of history.

I am told that next, I HAVE to go see A Star is Born with Lady Gaga. ... Radio Gaga is what inspired her own name... did you know that? ;) The reviews for that one are off the charts!

Now, if we are also talking about guitarists of a certain caliber that make their instrument something that transends and propels us to the utmost of our senses, please let me know where you would rate Carlos Santana. His playing has always made me ... disintegrate into a pool of pure experience.
