We have a GSD who is looking for food all the time even after eating her own regular dog meals. She will beg for yogurt, candy, cheese, butter, chocolate, bread, green salads, rice, biscuits, chips, etc. It is sometimes annoying to my spouse.
However someone told me it is a good trait in a dog since those dogs that have the strongest drive to eat have the best chance for survival in the wild. And this behavior is a favorable selection process by  nature.

Is it possible someone shared human food with her in the past and thus taught her to beg? I have 2 GSDs with very very high food drive, more like extreme in case of one if them, but they never beg for food because no one has ever given them anything they were eating.

Yeah. I think the person who is sometimes annoyed is guilty of that.

They are highly intelligent take advantage animals. To them past performance is indication of future performance- give in once and they will continue the behavior.

This case is not so bad. I know of someone who had a GSD that would take food from them whether or not they wanted to give it. The dog was male and aggressive but not food aggressive. However he took away food from his humans.

Sounds to me like the dog was disrespectful and they let him.

Kind of weird where it gets to the stage of a dog feeling comfortable to overpower familiar people and take their food.

I agree with the past behavior concept. I. Thought my dog to scale a 4 feet wall in the park and now as soon as we approach the wall she scales it right away.

Dogs are scavengers by nature. So why would something that has worked for millennia, not work not? They are programed to eat and eat as much as they can, because you never know when the next scrap will appear. Even though the next meal will appear precisely 12 hours from the last meal. Dogs live in the now, and now is time to eat.
I also agree with the (someone gave her a snack now she always expect that person to feed her)

Yup, 'Fry; that is the definition of 'opportunistic feeder' that Beetree poo-poohed a while back when I used it here.
Is not really a case of certain individual dogs being that way, just that (more ?) dogs who would show the behaviour do not do so, because they live with people who know not to teach them to beg or bully from humans who are eating.
