That's incorrect , most police dogs if not all( bite trained ) do not live at home or play freezbie with the neighbors kids , most depts/handlers with any common sense know the legal obligations and don't allow it

Well, I don't remember mentioning frisbee with the neighbors kids...LOL. Under that scenario I'd be more concerned with a dog with high prey drive and what that could lead to.

Shawni - where do you get your info about K9's not going home with their handler? Because all of the K9's that I helped train (decoying) went home with their handler at the end of shift when working. They were usually housed in a kennel at the home but this is not to say they were not part of the family depending on the household situation and the dog, of course.

Maybe I should be more clear , they may go home but they must have an adequate , safe and a secure area.

should a k9 be expected to go home and be a family dog? - there are people that think this is a detriment, and unfair, to the dog.

they need to go home and recover in peace not switch into family protector mode (which they will) and be a pet lab with kids crawling all over them.

smoking Joe, as for the whip, if you have been stung a few times with a whip you would pay attention to the guy as well.

I ignore clips with whips in them. I want to see what a dog does WITHOUT whip stimulation.

Shawnicus That I would think pertains to all dogs.

Joe out of curiosity. ..what"s that Lord son's name. Im a kind of Lord fan.

My female is quite aggressive and is  very  good only with family and even so within limits. She will bite family members if pressured to do something she does not want to do.

Mithuna- I believe it was Harko (gotta be close to 25 years ago). The breeder was Sarah Slader. This dog showed zero aggression with his people, including two young children. Outsiders, well that was a different scenario altogether.

I only see a Lord son called Harpo from 1992
