Hello everyone. I'm not familiar with navigating the SV website but I know you can look up a dogs ZW score.

The purpose of this thread is to identify studs, in America, that produce a high rate of healthy hips. For the sake of this thread, I'm not focusing on any other aspect of the dog (not something I would do for breeding).

Please list the studs that you are aware of who are proven producers of healthy hips. Thank you in advance.

The SV website is now available in English. The HD ZW information for a dog can be found by entering the dog's name or registration number here: https://www.sv-doxs.net/search/hund

With this information you can go to Winsis-Cat and really take a look at what's going on in the production department. Just look at the dogs offspring, the littermates offspring, parents offspring and you'll get a feel for what to expect.

This tool is a guide. There are contributing circumstances such as the female the dogs are bred to, the way the dogs are raised, their diet, and a component of nature called the luck of the draw. It's not all genetics.

If you really want to see what's going on for the future. Check out the December issue of the SV Magazine. I know it's not in your mailbox yet, but here it is on line for those like me that can't wait to see all the information. http://www.schaeferhunde.de/fileadmin/SV/Zeitung/122016/index.html#1

A study of the males from the information here can give you some real insight to what's happening with the dogs. After all most of any top stud dog here or coming here will be from the top dogs in Germany.

You'll see most all of the ZWs are below 100 now. Shows mathematically the system has been used as a tool and the breed has made a movement in the right direction statistically. Would like to see the overall trend since the HD ZW system was implements to see how it shakes out in real life results.

Let the discussion begin!
