Dunno where you've been Mithuna...I've been posting for quite some time

It s a shame too that some of the past posters are no longer here.
This place used to be a gold mine of good, informative posts, on every subject.
I remember telling wuzzup, years ago about this wonderful website I stumbled upon while trying to learn about the breed.
Learned a lot about German Shepherds, but learned so much more about people.
I know of new owners still afraid to come here and ask a question. It's like nah, not looking for a beatdown this week..
Blitzen was a wealth of information...Gone, it's like the less you know, empowers the rudeness..Go figure!

I miss her, too, and I really hope whatever she is doing right now, there is a German Shepherd Dog at her side...

Kitkat I could not agree more with your last paragraph . Blitzen has a world of knowledge. didn't always agree with her but it was good to here strong opinions.

Agree. This forum has been becoming toxic for as long as I have been on here. I, myself, even left for a long time because of the negativity and lack of tolerance. It is a handful of bad apples that patrol the posts and spout negativity and "know it all attitude". Yes, I have a GWL but I don't need to shove it down people's throats like they are the only "real" german shepherds. I mean give me a freaking break, people. We are all german shepherd lovers. I was one of the individuals that sent emails to Admin to separate the forums into working, conformation, etc. My hope was that people who were inclusive to their own vision would go to their own forum and leave the main forum for ALL german shepherd lovers. People should never be afraid to post for fear of a vicious or inappropriate response. WE have the potential to make this forum AMAZING. We have the capability to make this the go to place where ANYONE can come and seek advice. We have a wide range of german shepherd lovers with many levels of experience and we should share that experience to help, support, and encourage each other to share their lives with a german shepherd. That should be our mission and we can only do that if we stand united and respect the opinions of others.....

Great. Post Smiley. I bet the "post patrollers " you are talking about live in places like Australia, Germany, England, Illinois, and a few other US states.

Ha Ha Mith - so if they live in New York state or NYC, or India, or China, they cannot be said to be in that number ???

@ Smiley: 'becoming' toxic ? Can you actually name a year when it wasn't toxic, in some measure, 'cos it sure seems to me it has been that way for as long as I have heard of PDB
(& I knew it existed and some of what was said & done on it for several years before the past six or so that I have posted on it) ! How does it compare to Facebook ???

My 6th and current GSD is from ASL as were all the others. My dogs have all been "pet quality". I'm not interested in showing/breeding, but wanted a good quality dog and not one from a backyard breeder or puppy mill. So mine all have all had impressive pedigrees but aren't quite up to snuff themselves. I admire the working lines but am more comfortable with a dog that is more laid back. I am concerned about the sloping backs and extreme rear angulation the show lines are bred for now and its affect on their health and well being. I come to this forum mainly to enjoy photos and learn more about all German Shepherds.

The climate hasn't changed- what's changed is the more knowledgeable people lost patience and interest in trying to explain year after year why we can't all just sit around the campfire and sing Kumbaya. People who are passionate will always have strong opinions. This was a dog forum. Dog lovers care about dogs first, people's delicate sensibilities second. The dogs have softened along with the character of the owners. Ten years ago, even more, there was a whole different subset of characters on this board. Many many factors have come into play.Bottom line, if you want the board to be more active, post more. If you want the board to be a "safe place," well...you're not going to get those super knowledgeable folks.
