A good explanation of why the protein content on many low quality dog foods from Purina, Nestle, and other conglomerate grain marketing corporations mean nothing. In short plant protein is not real protein to a dog's body and is worth a lot less in nutritional value than high quality animal protein. Corn in a bag is not dog food.
Excerpt from the article .. " and I'll add that of all the plant-based protein sources available, corn gluten meal and soybean meal are two that I would never recommend feeding to any pet..
Gluten is highly allergenic and causes gastrointestinal fermentation and other GI upsets. Corn in all forms is a high glycemic, poor quality, incomplete, biologically inappropriate protein source for pets. It's a cheap filler ingredient that is highly allergenic. "

Great article. We also feed raw. I find it funny when people ask how I can feed tripe and raw chicken quarters. If they only knew what is in their commercial dog food they feed. We use Eureka raw blend which is a complete feed that many of the top dog sled team on the Iditarod feed. Our dogs have great coats load of and energy and small hard stools which are wonderful for easy clean up.
