I am 23 as of May 9th, 2016, for anybody that wanted to know.

Hund, I know you're fine with being called that because others have called you it before without getting their heads blown up by you.

Les, if I were to take any prohibited drugs (like meth or marijuana), I would get a dishonorable discharge without being able to re-enlist.

OMG , I made a post about showing my sable puppy in AKC & its turned into a 3 ring circus about rules , definitions, Op this & that.punctuation & now drug use. I cant keep up with all that. Lol well thanks anyways for those that took the time to give your opinion.

Sorry, Lady. This is what I meant when I said it gets away from the original topic.

Oh well I guess that's how this forum is, gotta take the good with the bad like everything else. Anyhow I've just been searching topics on the subject . So I'll just go to my show as planned & see how things go. Lol some of the threads are CRAZY! Very entertaining & some are informative. Thanks Reliya

Have to get ready for work, so no time to read the whole thread, BUT here's a young sable who went BOW in a show in Pennsylvania this past week. The handler is Christy Halliday of Imp-Cen kennels, and I don't know who the dog is, but Imp-Cen has had sables in the past: (Christy is also the breeder of my Star's mom, which is how I know her.)

Reliya, you do not need to explain yourself to every person who can't admit when they are wrong and who feel the need to badger and belittle those that would dare question their all knowing and all seeing abilities. The lengths this man has gone to impune your charachter, without merit I might add, is beyond the pale and beneath someone who claims to be educated and civilized. Thank you for your service and keeping us free
Les, you would do yourself a favour if you would read the terms of service and learn what is acceptable behaviour. Your knowledge in some cases is outdated and in error. It is a shame that a person who obviously has some good knowledge to share chooses to be a bully and immerses themselves in irrelevant minutiae.
To the OP, (on purpose) I am sorry this thread has been sidetracked. As already stated, being a sable won't hold your dog back in an AKC ring from what I have seen. The sable bitch in my avatar is V rated and I had a great deal of pleasure in showing her. She would of made a great crossover for the AKC ring in my opinion, due to her head shape and topline.

BIT of an over reaction, Markobytes.

I don't think it was an overreaction, not my place perhaps, but not an overreaction.
The original topic is a good one and it touches on the perceptions people have about showing. I had my own experiences showing my sable before SV judges and I have handled a couple of German dogs in AKC shows. One misconception is that UScA is more hospitable to working lines in a show ring than in GSDCA SV shows or that used to be in the now functionally defunct WDA. Your dog has to have the conformation that the organization sets as their standard in order to place high. My view has been that the AKC judging varies individual dog to individual dog and judge to judge a lot more than it varies in SV shows. A lot of AKC shows are very small, making the chance to place high better. AKC events are often multiple day events, if you don't do well one day, you might do well the next before a different judge. Always have the respect of the judge and the other exhibitors in mind, have your dog prepared. Don't take the critique of the judge as a personal insult. Everyone would love to be first but someone has to be last, don't take it personal. In the end, be proud of your dog and have fun.
