Mithuna

Hi
Someone recently posted a notice about a new book available on the GSD for $55. Can someone help me locate the post? It was within the last few weeks.

It sounds like Linda Shaw's fabulous book, THE ILLUSTRATED STANDARD FOR THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG. http://www.shawlein.com/standard/

Are you certain about this?

LOL@Mithuna~ Aren't you the judge? Did you take a look at its cover?

No, I'm not certain that it's the book you are thinking about.

I am certain that Linda's book is fabulous, it's on the GSD, and it costs $55 in the US.

Was it, by any chance, The History of German Shepherd Dog by Gorden Garrett?

beetree; Is it possible to read a book by its cover? never mind I forgot that internet has created a huge population of geniuses

by beetree on 18 March 2016 - 19:03

Gsdstudent, reading the book wasn't the issue. "Judging a book by its cover" for Mithuna's relevancy was me being clever with a well known cliche. Or, at least it should have been.

He is his best judge, asking anyone else to verify that, was him being cheekier, than myself. IMHO

I read Linda's book and it is certainly worth the money you spend. I enjoyed and benefited from the book. It is a compilation of long hard work that took years. You will certainly enjoy the drawings, very beautiful.
I agree with Linda on the general understanding and vision, but there are some details that are her belief with no proof, only drawings of what she imagines, might be true and might be wrong. Beautiful drawings do not make facts, radio graphs on the other hand tell exact facts, I wonder in a developed country with all the scientific tools accessible, one still makes hand drawings instead of radio graphs/ x-rays.
I am a civil engineer, and we have a on time scanning tool that tells you details of steel enforcement present in a structural concrete element in front of you. Don't you have a similar tool to show details of bones and skeleton of a animal?

Wow, and wouldn't that be useful ? A pocket sized portable
scanner type MRI machine that judges could run over the
dogs like I scan to find water-pipes when I want to drill a wall !
Ibrahim if you could invent such a gadget you'd make your
fortune !
