Well the system is finally in place. You can go to a pedigree - click the green edit button and in the creator/owner section you will see a link to ask for edit rights.

Also, 2 new tabs have been added to user profiles which will let members know who has pedigree ownership and who has edit rights.

Watch for new changes coming our way soon.

There should also be a new link under owner/creator that says who has what rights.

I just created a new dog to be registered on here but it still says I need to ask for editor rights.

A friend created a profile for one of my dogs and I would like to "take over" this profile. Any ideas how to do it please ?

I have been granted edit rights, but my friend can also edit. I am perhaps missing something ?

Right because they created the pedigree. Is there a reason you don't want them having the ability to edit? Because any member who has missing information can ask for edit rights to add that info to the pedigree. There can only be one creator but many editors.

seriously ? So anyone can edit my dogs details ? They can (if they want to) even put in false info ?

Right and when they are found out they will be dealt with. So, yes, seriously. We do this for several reasons - what if you make a mistake and disappear from the site, then another member could fix the mistake. We want to keep it as open as possible. What you see in the pedigrees took years and many members to create, a pedigree could have been created by another who didn't have all the info so then another member could come along and finish the pedigree or add updated info. In the past pedigrees could be updated by anyone so this system is much safer.
